Great review! So good that I purchased a 2014 C50T. I'm 66 and this is my first bike....love it! Question I noticed your bike has rear floorboards. I'm having a difficult time finding ones that fit, any idea what brand, model they are as they look perfect!

After 2 seasons of saddling the LS650P Savage (and two earlier ones of trying out various Chinese failed attempts at a decent bike), I bought a brand new 2009 EU model (the VL800/C800 - a standard one, not a tourer) in mid-June of that year. I knew upfront I wanted this particular bike, as it looked great, the specs were exactly as desired and the price was acceptable. Long story short, it was an instant perfect fit and allowed me doing comfortable solo trips to Austria, Slovenia & Italy multiple times every summer, each one totalling at some 600+ miles - mountain passes included, like Grossglockner (~8k ft), Nockalmstrasse (~6,5k ft), Soealkpass (~5,8k ft), Villacher Alpenstrasse (~5,7k ft), Turracher HoehePass (~5,9k ft), Vrsic Mountain Pass (~5,3k ft) etc.. All that with just two saddle-bags for my stuff (3,5 gal each). Then around 2015, I started doing these trips with my GF, which made me upgrad the saddle-bags to ~6 gallon ones each and added a rear, sissybar-carrier- attached backpack (~14,5 gal). The bike still did perfectly fine, although the total mileage went down a bit, for some reason 😀 However, that was the moment, when I got to both perfectly realize and fully appreciate the insanely good quality in which this bike was made (and still is) - typically the first and last days we took highways just to get quickly to the destination area a/o point, and even fully loaded, the bike managed to do that without breaking a sweat at some 80-85 mph. I do not really recall being fatigued or exhausted by the end of the day, just pleasantly tired. Yes, possibly it was because of having a habbit to stop for a cigarette and coffe every hour a/o every 50 miles. After 10 seasons of intense riding (and another mediocre one) I had to sell the VL800 in 2020, but getting back to normal and keeping the good memories, I bought myself another one last year (late-April of 2023 - a 2003 model, carburetor-operated) - and the "this is one of the greatest bikes ever" feeling was again there, in an instant. Later the same year (late July) I upgraded to the US Boulevard C90T, so that my GF could ride the VL800. Though she got her license only a year earlier, I made her practice before anything else, but to my surprise and relief, she did so well that we actually went for a two-bikes-holiday (albeit in Slovakia only) already in August the same year. In regards to the bike itself, she said fairly the same as I did - and you do in this video - it's a great bike, handles really well in that pleasant 'nifty' manner, it is light enough for city commuting, but is 'as-if' destined for cruising local roads at some 60 mph - but is also perfectly capable of handling highways at their legal-limit speeds. I think I have nothing to add to that - maybe besides ex-post stating the fact, that in terms of reliability, I have never had any issues, it never let me stranded (first time I had to recharge the OG battery on the K9 was after 10 seasons) and the only thing it required was regular maintenance within user's manual given intervals. BTW instead of a Mustang seat, you may want to try the seat air-pad add-on instead - it's cheaper and does the same job very well. LbnL I'm glad you guys enjoy the bike 🙂 Ride hard & ride safe.

I've had mine since 2011. I've had fun riding it and took it on vacation twice and road trips from Ohio to Virginia. The only issue I've had was a wire bundle comming from the computer had 1 wire rub through shorting out to the frame keeping it from starting. Repaired the issue and so far no other issues. Only gripe I have is it's hard to find any accessories to make it truly yours. I have found a fairing, tour box and medium sized hard bags for it and highway bars and a back rest. Ride safe and have fun😊

thanks for the great video I had tow and the first thing I did was remove the windshield on bough, gave the second one to my sun and the first thing he wanted was put that candy ass windshield back on. I just love the feel of the wind hitting me full force, nothing feels better than doing 100 Km plus in to a 60 km + wind. I mostly ride ADV bikes mid size, but thinking of getting another cruiser and think it might be a C50T all loved scraping the floor boards on the twisty roads. I wore them little pegs that stick down over 3/4 of the way down. That last one I had was white and no chrome badge on the tank, though the bike look so much better with out it, but I see now they are putting it back on all the C50T's

I own a 2011 boulevard c50t. Can't find anything bad to say about it. Rode it from ohio to cape Hatteras north Carolina and various trips here and there. It's almost like a recliner on wheels. Now granted it is my 2nd bike with my first being a suzuki Bergman 400 which is a nice bike for a scooter. Highway riding is good and I have passed semi trucks several times. Basically I love the bike and would hate to part with it.

What is the engine RPM at 60 mph in high gear? I’m hoping to buy a new 2022. I had a Yamaha 1100cc v-star. At 60mph, it was 3700 rpm! Needed a 6th gear badly!

Hi i just bought a C50T last night and i have a question about starting the bike, is it normal to start a bike by putting in neutral and pulling in the clutch then press the START button? it won't start if i don't pull in the clutch. i never had to do this with my Yamaha 2016 V Star 250cc, i just put in neutral (green light) and press START there it fires right away. Your answer is greatly appreciated!

Oh man...this is EXACTLY my story. 30 years for me, and it was my newly grown daughter. And this is the exact bike I chose too. Mine is also a T, and it's a 2012. And the more you talk, the spookier it gets. I have the Mustang seat too. Hope you went through with buying it...it's awesome.

I took my windshield off of my 08 C50. Not sure if it's factory but it catches a lot if wind and I think I would like better if I could see over it. Also not used to a cruiser and I have to pay attention to speed as far as rubbing the floor boards on curves

I have a 2014 C50T. This is my 5th and favorite motorcycle I've ever owned over 40 years of riding. I feel lucky that it is such a solid and well engineered bike because I simply bought it on a whim cause it was SO PRETTY! Handles great. I am not tall at all so I did install handlebar risers to help and I now ride in pure comfort. Review is spot on.

I recently did a short 3 day tour, riding from Kansas through Colorado to New Mexico. Spent most of the time around Taos and Red River, New Mexico. There was 4 of us. One on a BMW; one on an Indian; one on a Harley trike; and me on my Suzuki C50T. All were much bigger displacement bikes, and I had no problem keeping up with them, even through the mountains. Only on quick acceleration did I really notice a difference. I used a Kuryakyn Vagabond seat bag for extra storage. My bike is stock, although I may upgrade to a Mustang seat and replace the saddlebags with some better quality Viking bags. I may also change to a taller windshield. Do you have any recommendations?
@rendlerendle
@rendlerendle Жыл бұрын
Hello Wayne DuBusk, thanks for the comment. Google 7jurock.com and see if they still make the taller windshields. The company I bought mine from is no longer in business (except airplane parts) but 7jurock looks like the tall windshield I have. The Mustang seat definitely made a difference for me. Thanks for the comment and ride safe.

I recently purchased a 2013 M50and absolutely love the bike. My only complaint would be the seat and I’m having some trouble finding seats for the newer style M50. Could anyone point me in the right direction for finding a seat that would fit the bike?

Justin James, thanks for the comment. You might give Mustang a call and see if they can work with you on the seat for the M50. They don't list it as their stock option, but I do see a 'custom seats' button on their website. Cheers. Ride safe.

You are preaching to the choir here on the two-lane touring. Accessorize it to make it yours, and a C50 can be absolutely the best machine for the job. My '08 is sure fine...

Bill White, thanks for the comment. Touring is my favorite thing. There's not much scenery on the interstate highways. I like cruising into a new small town and finding the old historic buildings and landmarks. I like to leave plenty of wiggle room in my route so I've got extra time to explore a little. That way I'm not pressed to get miles behind me to get to a hotel or cabin, able to enjoy the day. Ride safe. Cheers.

Hello riders. Any advice for someone buying a 2002 vl800 with 53000km? Any thoughts on switching the stock handlebars for a straight/dragbars? Thanks guys
@Backswell

I personally like the stock bullhorns, think they fit the style of the bike. Also don’t want to screw around with cables and that stuff. I’d recommend a rejet and honest Abe debaffle, runs stronger sounds better

Hello friend. Just stumbled on your video. I know its been a long time but wondering if you have any recollection of how the bike behaved and any major issues you may have come across. 2002 suzuki vl800 53000km riden. Thank you

Hello BA, thanks for the question. The bike still rides great and I have no complaints. The only issue I had was the starter relay (solenoid) played out. It started clicking when I pressed the start button and I would have to click it several times to get it to turn over and start. I tried a cheap off-brand solenoid which lasted a couple months. Then I bought the Suzuki brand and it works great (lesson learned on cheap parts). The only other thing I've had to do was replace tires when they got slick. Cheers. Ride safe.

I love your video. I just bought a c50T up here in Canuckistan and I'm looking forward to a whole bunch of 4-8 hour single lane rides out through the rocky mountains where I can stop and just enjoy the scenery. My cousin just bought an Indian Super Chief Limited, insane bike, I know, but spoke so highly of this Suzuki Boulevard C50 for a great choice for a "get back into riding" choice, and I cant wait to ride with him. Thanks for your excellent "every day joe" video. We dont have a long riding season up here, April through October until its -405000 degrees again. Cant wait to put some miles on it.
