Great video! I've been trying to work out how you have your two laptops setup in the 'Connectivity' section of the video. It looks like you have both the Dell and the MacBook connected to the monitor via a single cable - USB C? Are you getting the full benefit of charging and access to peripherals with that one cable on both laptops (depending on which laptop is selected)? If so that is exatly what I need so I'm hoping so, but until coming across this video I was beginning to get the impression it wasn't possible as the monitor seemed better suited for one laptop and a desktop setup (rather than two laptops) as I think there's only one thunderbolt upstream port!?
@District7DrewGeraciАй бұрын
You can only have (1) OS hooked up to TB at the same time (and there's only 1 upstream TB connection anyway, but you can daisy chain off of it). The only way I could connect and operate both computers (with Windows and MacOS) was 1 computer on TB and 1 computer on HDMI + USB-C. That will allow you to use the hub on the monitor (and be seen by both systems, but you can only transfer to one system at a time). Hope that's helpful! I have a desktop and (2) laptops hooked up to it and LOVE it.
@Z4kTАй бұрын
@@District7DrewGeraci That is very helpful, thank you! Just to check, do you have the 1 desktop and 2 laptops connected to the monitor all at once (obviously only being able to actually select one for use), or is it only ever up to any two of these computers?

For those interested in this monitor: please be aware that this monitor seems to suffer from a production issue where affected panels are damaged with scratches over the entire width of the monitor. I went through multiple replacements, but 3/3 monitors (all produced May '24) suffered from this issue in varying degrees. My model from July '24 does not have any scratches, but does have some green bleed at the bottom part of the monitor. @@12Burton24 Yes, you have to connect one of the USB-C ports to your PC to have functionality in the other ports to non-monitor devices (as is common in every other monitor out there). Thunderbolt works as both a monitor type and data type so as long as there is a TB connection to your computer.

Thank you for this video. Very useful. But, I wanted to ask, do you have somewhere examples of real rates for the footage? How do you sell (or how is it bought?) per second? Per clip? Where can I find rates, the real numbers, to have an idea how much my footage is worth? Thank you!
@District7DrewGeraci2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Quite frankly, there aren't any real rates or charts with today's licensing setups since most organizations want full rights in perpetuity or royalty-free. If you manage to get a Rights Managed license don't charge too much; perhaps $1500-4000 (depending on how rare or unique the clip is). If you're going for a per second rate, it's usually $75-150/sec depending on on the terms (for TV and Films). You should always aim high though and negotiate downward. Subscription-based licensing has killed the licensing game as we know it today so big pay-days are few and far between.

How embarrassing output from a £1.8k product. TB also stops PD to laptop. Otherwise it could have been an excellent buy. Dell support proved to be joke. Also, regardless of project type, you will only ever be able to export what the native FPS is of your timeline. You would need to create multiple timeline with multiple FPS varients to do mass exportation. Ex, you couldn't export both 24p and 60p on the same timeline (ever). You'd have to make a separate TL for each FPS setting you want to export.
