I believe no matter what the dog or cats going through I believe with all my heart that is wrong to euthanize the animals.know one Has the right to put an animal down I don't care what the law says God gives and God takes it. And no one has the right to play God. I have a dog myself and if and when my dog is get really sick I wouldn't even think of euthanizing in my dog I will leave it all in God's hands.. and another thing if your child was really really sick would you put your child down.

@mariarussell1393 Thank you for sharing your perspective. I respect your right to hold express your views on this topic, and I believe we can all learn from a respectful and constructive dialogue on this topic. It is a very difficult decision in every situation, and every situation is unique. It is evident that you love your dog very much, and that your decisions about euthanasia come from a place of love, religious obligation and duty. I hope you can see the other perspective of the many people who do choose euthanasia for their pet also from a place of love and duty- to alleviate suffering. It’s a really difficult position for a pet owner to be put in, and it requires a tremendous amount of love compassion for all involved. Thank you for sharing and for visiting our channel. First of all I want to thank you for texting me back I appreciate you so much. What I'm upset about that's my neighbor keep adopted sick dogs and then a month later she puts them down and I don't think that's right and I see no remorse in my neighbor what's so ever. One day I went with her my neighbor to the vet with one of her dogs and she told me in front of the vet doctor does she want to put the dog down and I cried and I told my neighbor don't do it please don't do it and then she changed your mind and when the vet left the room she wasn't worried about the dog she was worrying about the money . And I specifically asked the vet doctor is the dog in pain she said no so she told my neighbor we going to have to put the dog on the different medication. Like I said before she did change your mind about euthanizing the dog and as soon as the doctor left the room she started complaining about the money is going to cost you too much money and my neighbor changed the mind again and told me I'm going to put him down and I begged her not to so I've been out the door and later on she came out about an hour later and that was the end of that euthanize the poor beautiful dog and I believe that they should be a law protecting animals even if they're sick medication to help them ease the pain if anything. Me and my neighbor got into a big big argument about taking dogs in and then euthanize them. And she told me she have done this many many many many many many many times throughout her years and she also told me something she also told me I put my mother down to. I believe this woman my neighbor should be jailed. They should be a l a w to stop people like her. I am very very upset with my neighbor for what she's doing something needs to. Can you please tell me what to do with my neighbor
@TwinTreesVet14 күн бұрын
Yes I agree that is a very difficult situation. It’s one of things I discuss in this video… it’s one of the worst parts about being a vet- when people are choosing euthanasia for cost reasons (they are unwilling or unable to pay for the medical care needed to treat the pet). I think as an industry / profession there should be better checks in place to educate people on the costs associated with pet ownership (and medical care) ahead of time, and also the importance of having good medical insurance for their pets. That is what we need to do industry-wide to solve a very, very common problem. It’s not just your neighbour, so we need to think big picture, how can we solve this problem? Thank you for bringing this up 🤍🙏🏼

Not all euthanasia is this peaceful. I have had to put animals down in the past, always from old age and disease. The vet always used an IV and things were quick. I had to take my 12 year old grandkitty to a strange vet because I had to move out of state. My GKitty was showing obvious signs of renal failure. I moved because She lost my job. This vet wanted to do lab work on a cat who had not been able to eat and drink for 4 days. My GKitty was also rapidly losing weight and was hiding. He lost his agility to get up on the bed. He could barely walk. The vet stabbed him in the stomach with an anesthetic that she said would put him out so she could inject the heart stopping meds🥺. He cried during the injection and than he began to try and crawl away, he was licking at the air, struggling for breath . The vet had left the room expecting to return to a tranquilized cat. He was having none of it. She stabbed him in the stomach with a second dose as I held him in utter horror. This wasn’t what I had ever experienced in putting an animal down. He stopped moving and the anesthetic did its job. She wasted no time in giving the final injection. She was a cold blooded woman. On my way out, clutching his blanket after making cremation arrangements, I couldnt even open the door to leave through my tears. The Bish receptionist yelled at me “pull not push”. I got his ashes , fur and paw prints back 2 months ago. I can’t even look at them. He was my daughter’s cat.My 25 year old daughter had passed away 7 years earlier and had the ashes of her other two cats put in with hers. One died before my daughter and one died after. I’m sick remembering how he fought and cried. I can’t even think about it. I’m devastated and in deep depression from losing my daughter and the GKittys. Hope I can go soon.

University of Guelph (Canada) study published in April 2023 counters these claims: “This study is the longest, controlled feeding study to date to assess cardiometabolic health in healthy adult dogs fed pulse-inclusive diets,” This latest U of G research, which appears this month in The Journal of Nutrition, found that dogs fed diets containing up to 45 per cent whole pulse ingredients and no grains over 20 weeks showed no indications of heart issues. As well, the dogs’ body composition altered less than 0.1 per cent from baseline no matter which diet they were on, suggesting they also maintained lean body mass.

As a child, I wanted to be a veterinarian but was discouraged by my mother because I was already calling Cornell University at age 11 for guidance on things, and she did foresaw a daunting Ivy League bill. It was providence of G-d to block my path considering all the things vets go through that move them closer to suicid@l ideation and su!cide after the abuse I also survived. It is confounding to be turned away from an acrivity you love, nevertheless. I hope you find peace.

It’s a tough one because you never want to discourage a child from following their dreams. But the problem is that the reality of vet med is so far from what children ( and most people ) imagine. I should've known better to leave Philadelphia cream onion and chive uncovered even for a few seconds. My cat licked a little bit for a few seconds. The cream cheese was still a little cold not so soft and creamy. I read the label on the product. It says it has dried onions and chives besides other ingredients. When onion and chive are dried, are they less potent? I did call the Animal poison control by the ASPC I was disappointed they charge so I was not able to get the help I needed for my cat i don't have enough money now. She told me all they would help me with is to tell me to look out for symptoms only if I paid. She never mentioned about helping me to know about her weight and determined from there even if I paid her.. All i did is to give her a little bit of her dry food with water; my kitty ate and drank all the water and I said a prayer for my baby that in 2 to 5 days of keeping an eye on her she will not have any negative affect. There use to be where you can call at all hours the poison control holine even for Animals, and there was never a charge. They really did care for your animals and helped them. Monday August 5th I will call her vet and let her know what happened and she will let me know if her licking for few seconds some of the Philadelphia cream cheese with onion and chives will affect her or not, and what I can do for my cat. Can you give me some advice on this please, I'm really concerned for my cat. 😔

Sadly for those who work in animal care the healthcare is not advance as it should be. That is down to us as a society valuing "animal" life as less worthy than our own when we are nothing more than another species of animal. When you end suffering you are helping both your patients, the pet and the human, more than you will ever realise so thank you so much for being there for us going through that horrific experience. Pet insurance exists for a reason. People insure your pets for their sake sod yours. Vet staff do not want to euthanise any animal even if it outside of their area they are devastated doing it. It is the area of last resort to them. The problem is the cost of "adoption". I live on the 10th, 11th US, floor of a tower block, so I only wanted to adopt FIV+ (the cat version of HIV but more easily spread) or those that no one wanted to adopt because they were missing bits. I aid no when they said the cost for healthy kitten was the same as that for an "unadoptable" cat. I could easily get a "perfect" kitty for free, but that is not what I want now. I want to give the unadoptable a furever home. If you are obsessed with getting a pedigree then pets are not for you.
@TwinTreesVet6 ай бұрын
There is a lot to unpack in this comment, but you thoughtfully address a lot of important points. It is true that in our society, pets are a consumer commodity- something that is manufactured, bought, sold, and ultimately disposed of on an absolutely massive scale. If there were more checkpoints in place (drivers have to take a class, have insurance, pass a test, etc. before they can drive a car; car manufacturers must meet certain standards too), so much unnecessary pet suffering and death could be prevented. I don’t know who gave this comment a thumbs down but I assume it must have been a typo when they were scrolling. Big ❤️ from me. -Dr. Lopez

@@TwinTreesVet That is one of the problems sadly, we see pets as property. Even the law where I live does. I am now a convicted criminal as a thief because I took a cat to my vet to get her help. My mum and my friends paid the fine, but it shows how much we value other life forms. The other unfortunate thing is the checks for adopting a pet. I have been petless for a long time now, I needed time to process and pass through the grief of putting my last cat down. I have been petless now for so long because the charities I have gone to to adopt a purrball wanted the same "donation" for a healthy kitten as the wanted for an FIV+ cat, a disabled cat. Though they called it a "donation" it was a purchase price and so I can not offer a loving furever home to cats no one else wants to adopt.

@@TwinTreesVet Well I am going to say it wasn't my who gave the 👎 In my country they do have to do all tat, car or motorcycle riders, However cyclists,and even scooters don't. Maybe you could do a video about pet owned people, and we are the owned not the pets, telling them never to leave their pet alone at the time it is needed. I have held all but the first cat I have had to put down. In that case I was so shocked I did what I was told. After that I was "bugger off vet nurse I am holding them until the end as I owe them that much for all the love and joy they gave me" the nurse was not offended and just walked out of the room with a smile on her face.

The only truth about this painful time in a pet owned human life is you must never, and I mean NEVER, leave them alone. Hold them at the time as it reduces their stress and pain. Never leave them alone at the time that they need you the most. It is rare that we mere mortals do that to the point my vet was surprised when I held my cat and told the nurse to go away. She was there for me through difficult times so she deserves me to be there for her,

How do shelter workers have heart to euthanize perfectly healthy animals? It makes no sense. 2 million per year? That is absolutely ridiculous!
@TwinTreesVet7 ай бұрын
@sarasrandomz They don’t. In fact, being on the receiving end of society’s unwanted and discarded pets, and then being forced to dispose of the overstock… it’s actually killing animal shelter workers. Suicide rates Amin shelter workers is consistently one of the highest among all professions. I’ll have to give a full answer in a separate video, but it comes down to pets being a consumer commodity (manufactured, bought, sold and ultimately disposed of) in a world of fast fashion (unconscious consumerism) combined with a complete lack of oversight and regulation of pet ownership/ breeding. First off if you think this is sick then why would you watch it ? To think people would get offended by something where it says clearly no dogs were hurt. I live with chronic pain and I'm disabled. I have a German Shepherd that I love more than life. Maverick which is my German Shepard had somehow sniffed out one of my prescribed medications. I rushed him to the vet. Luckily he is was ok, however if you think this next part is a joke and your biased then this is where you need to please stop reading... I have to keep a particular medication completely away from him. A few weeks ago I found him taking the bottle out of my medication bag. I think he honestly now had wants more be a use he liked it. German Shepherds are incredibly intelligent. I find it ironic how he tries to get into the same medication which is highly addictive. I was researching if dogs can be one addicted not by something they are prescribed but by their own conscious descions. If you can't handle that then I'm sorry you are so sensitive. Even if the channel wassce to be a joke it gavee laugh and to know all the dogs were ok made it more amusing. if the channel showed any dogs that passed I wouldn't have watched it but as I said I'm in chronic pain and sir on a couch 99 percent of the day, be grateful none of you have to hope you can find something to smile over and laugh over when you wake up feeling dead inside everyday. I'm grateful for any time I can smile. Also I would never smile over someone else's misery or an animals misey. I really hope none of of you ever have to wake up every day in so much pain you have to ask a neighbor to please feed your own pet because some days pain is so bad I can't move. Now if you want to say a smartass comment remember the part above where I asked you to stop reading ?? Think about who is the plebian now
