Hey lucky you were able to sort it out before any major damage! Your vids inspired me to buy my own E36 M3 (97 cosmos black coupe) last year so glad to see you still have the car and it''s still putting a smile on your face.

Nice car. Did you have to drill holes for the side skirt extensions or just tape? What brand are they?
@TreatsOnTheStreets22 сағат бұрын
Nobody makes them in the US from what I can find. I had to import them from Germany using a freight forwarder. I was mostly able to just use the OE holes already there. Maybe I should make em 🤷

Ah the ole oil pump nut backing out. After swapping the motor out of one e36, I took the chance to change it out for a safety wired nut. Also had a shop install the seems legit garage chain tensioner kit so the chain isn’t free to slap around and cause the nut to back off like stock. Purrs like a kitten. Now to fix the rest of the car 🫠

You did it the 100% way. I just did the minimum to pass 😂

Clickbait lol your engine didn’t fail but your oil pump did. Glad you’re back tho

wow glad to have you back i literally was abou to unsubscribe few weeks back from you thinking you was done then out of shock you appeared with a new video how strange was that
@TomTabaeiКүн бұрын
Good to see it was a save, but it’s not the motor mounts that cause this, it’s high revs and abrupt changes in rpm that causes the oil pump nut to come off due to non ideal crankshaft harmonics. The motor mounts just isolate the engine from the chassis, has no effect on vibrations within the engine itself.

Thank you for spreading the truth about this. The best way to prevent this is a simple drilled nut, red loctite, and safety wire, as well as the Z3 pickup tube. I’ve made videos on my channel about doing this job and have always had people tout it as a myth- it’s absolutely not. It’s the first thing I do on any E36. So glad you made it out okay! I’ve done mine always before they’ve come off. Glad to see you’re back making videos from one E36 nut to another!! 🖤
@nvl269111 сағат бұрын
Z3 pickup tube? Never heard of that! The usual fix I hear of is the addition of an oil pump chain tensioner

If you shut it off right after you lose oil pressure the engine usually comes out ok, but that pump nut is a hell of an Achilles heel

@E36andE46vlog8 сағат бұрын
And yes we missed you haha theres a check valve in the oil filter housing. Mine was broken on time, so the oil went out of the filter, the oil pressure sensor went on right away. So in that case, the light lights up fast. The serration that fall of and didnt damage anything, is more lucky. Like you did, dont take risk and push the car with your gf is the (only) way to go. Before that driving high speeds, it was probably ok, or else your engine stoped because of no oil. Your E36 has a angle on it's hood, refirbish the engine would cost a lot of work and money! Better buy new accesoires (like you did) from that :)

You’re still alive!! Years ago I had a reputable BMW race shop install an aftermarket oil pump kit. A week later the aftermarket shaft sheared off and the engine seized. Glad you caught yours before the engine was damaged

Ayyyy, he is back! I want you to know that I started watching you in highschool, your videos got me really excited to own an E36 M3 and are one of my inspirations for content creation. This issue really can happen at any time. My S52 at 230k was still ok when we pulled the oil pan off. But mine was an auto until 205k. Cheers man, I'm glad you got lucky.

E36s are so good... they fail once you are already home so that you do not get stranded haha One time, my fuel pump internal hose(the one that connects the pump itself to the carrier that comes out of the tank) came off after a 100km drive through the night, went to start it the next day and nothing, but I was home and just had to fix it but never left me actually stranded.
@kcdesignconcepts5216Күн бұрын
Glad to see you posting again. And you definitely dodged a bullet. The upgrade shaft and sprocket combination is a good fix for most people. Unfortunately it's more of a Band-Aid for the main cause. The main cause of these oil pump related failures is the oil pump chain slapping around at certain RPMs. Even though inline 6-cylinder engines have very good primary and secondary balancing, the harmonics generated with combustion events is not fully eliminated from the damper. And at high RPMs cause the oil pump chain to slap back and forth violently. BMW Engineers knew this, and is the reason that the Euro s50 and the s54 engines come with an oil pump chain tensioner. And can be retrofitted to other engines.
@TreatsOnTheStreetsКүн бұрын
That's a great point. I saw kits to install a tensioner but I didn't want to get that deep into it 😅

These type videos opens the doors for the trolls to discredit the US Spec M3 and say they are not real M cars, and they’re just standard E36 3 series and have the same 3 series engines. I really hate these type videos of people having no clue what they’re talking about. There is a big night and day difference between a E36 M3 and a standard E36 3 series, and it’s not even close. Don’t let people like this trick you into believing they’re basically the same car with one just having some M badges on it and the other not. M3 was specifically tuned by BMW M engineers, different chassis, different suspension, different power to weight ratios and torque, better breaks, better handling than a standard 3 series. Don’t be so gullible into believing what these guys say on KZbin. You’ll often hear uneducated people say our US Spec E36 M3 is fake M3 is just ignorant and don’t really appreciate the BMW E36 platform and its history. If you really know your stuff then you’d know that the Limited production E36 M3 Superlite, which BMW only produced 126 of them, with 80 being sent to the United States, and today sells for around $300,000 produced the same 240bhp that our US Spec E36 M3’s are equipped with. But anyone would be a fool to call the BMW E36 M3 Superlite a “Fake” M3. You see what I’m saying? And I personally own the LCI 1999 E36 M3 completely stock with under 100k miles on the odometer, no aftermarket mods or parts. The E36 M3’s hold their value much better than any other generation of BMW M models.

Very useful info. I never used this stuff before, but I have heard of it. A guy I just bought an old (1993) Simplicity snowblower from said they used Seafoam on every tank full. The thing starts on the first pull every time. Going to start using seafoam in my car now also. Thanks for the video.
