The bench seat definitely affords more heads room and maybe just a little more leg room. I prefer the ‘fit’ of a bucket seat for wheeling, but have stuck with my bench seat for convenience.

Torsion bars were only used for three years: 1960, 1961, and 1962. 1963 went to a coil spring front suspension. If this truck has a torsion bar front end, then it's a 62.
@PardeeShopShenanigans6 ай бұрын
I had a case of scramble-mouth when I said torsion bars. 🤦🏼♂️ what I was meaning to say is Trailing Arms. Those which connect the rear differential to the frame with coil rear suspension. However, this is in fact a ‘63 with coil front suspension as well. Thanks for watching!

@russmurphy70626 ай бұрын
From a fabricator that saw the first vid on this, you aren't seeing just how smart the guy was that built it. The thru shafts have to be that way because of clearances. You CANT have two opinions fighting for the same real estate inside the rear housing. They flipped the pinion that goes to the furthest rear axle, and it caused the reverse rotation. The second axle was flipped over to rotate the same direction. And yes, it's that simple. There's NOT a six cylinder that's NOT A BOAT ANCHOR. This truck should be torn completely down and the rust repairs redone. A good, built LS and five speed for pulling. The diffs would get a set of 3.73's, a full disc conversion, new drive shafts. The frame itself should be powder coated and restored. The booger welds need grinding down and maybe redo the spring set ups. Put the old style rear SWING ARMS, NOT TORSION BARS. Torsion bars are literally straight bars that act as a spring. Theyre hardened steel and good luck cutting em. You've got a really good project to work on. But I'm not the one thats got to spend the money and time on it. I have to give your ole lady a whole lotta credit. That many "projects" sitting in her yard, most women would've long ago, filed for the divorce. I think she deserves a dinner at a swank place and some quality time alone.
@jerrybrooks8706 ай бұрын
A 292 is not a boat anchor. It will outpull any small block v8. It pulls comparable to a big block. I know because I used to run one in a 1951 Chevy 2 and 1/2 ton truck. A friend of mine had the same size truck with a 350 v8, and he wasn't able to keep up with me on the hills when we were hauling the same size load. I also chain pulled a guy with Dodge 360 backward around a parking lot with that truck. As far as I'm concerned, you can keep your LS junk. I'll take one of those 292 sixes any day. Just one more thing to consider. In case of an EMP strike, your LS will be a boat anchor. The old six will still run.
