Amazing & inspiring to see how far you've come in a year - from "Buying a catamaran may have been a mistake" to "reefing the jib" in the middle of the Pacific 🙂 Godspeed to you and your beautiful family. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJzMgWOfi8SNY6c

Your hull looks heavy in the water. How close are you to your displacement weight. The more "stuff" you carry, the more load on your rigging. Your boat is trying to react to the wind waves, motion and all so it's finding hard to accelerate or lift or lean or react due to the big pendulum that is your "stuff". Spares, clothes, food, fuel, toys. Just curious if it has all been factored in already. Maybe it's just an illusion caused by every available space being used for something. Entertaining as always and obviously you survived the crossing because we are watching it. Happy new year 😂

The boat was for sure heavier crossing the pacific but not overloaded. Our focus was having all the spares, food and water for the crossing. Weight load was more on our mind for crossing from Tonga to NZ where the seas are known to be rougher. Thanks for watching and happy new year!!

Well I just binged watched your entire journey up until the Galapagos, I'm contemplating something similar with a boat similar to what you have. I own a ranch in Southeast Idaho and I am contemplating selling everything and buying a catamaran. I'm not sure that I really have a desire to go around the earth as much as I want to live freely in the Caribbean and Bahamas. I really enjoy the videos and I'm very grateful for how real you guys keep your experiences. Safe journeys Raphael

@@Luke-y8l I don't believe that I have, I am closer to retirement age so the little children aspect isn't what attracted me to sailing machete. It was more how open they were about the process. @@sailingmachete I apologize in advance if I'm being a bother but what was the name of the school that Dan went to for ACA and would he recommend it?
@sailingmachete
@sailingmachete 26 күн бұрын
Definitely not a bother! He used Blue Water Sailing School out of Ft. Lauderdale. He said that school - for the price - was okay. The boat they used for teaching was not in good condition. He believes there are better sailing schools out there.

When I went, I spent $800 on fuel and water bladders I kept on deck so I could motor right pass all those rules and regulations and continue to Marquesas. It took me 30 days to get there from PC, but when I got there, my fuel tank was 3/4th full and water tank was full. They said I was the first boat ever that didn't need anything when I got there.

Wow, again so much prep to do! Unending tasks for Daniel, who does yeoman's work keeping on top of everything. Your cheerful attitude and family activities are a pleasure to watch. A fun excursion on Isabela, evading all the boardwalk bullies. Your assessment of whether to stop at the Galapagos, at video's end, was well considered. 💯 It does seem that officials aim to squeeze guests, to 'lighten their load' as much as possible before they move on. Even the sea lions help themselves to whatever they can find on your boat! But also a lot of positives, as you said. Now it's on to your biggest voyage! JuJu, at least, is excited for the trip! 😅 A terrific destination! In my opinion, the most amazing islands on the planet. 😀
