Corporate development is the bigger problem when it comes to housing, it's one thing to build a house as needed vs developing hundreds of acres all at once and building homes on top of one another and straining local utilities. The insurance problem is more about fraud, FL has the highest fraud rate in the country and it won't get better until they get it under control.

Although I do think the midwest has an enormous amount of potential for growth, it still suffers from a poor perception of horrible weather conditions and insular mentality that prevents younger people from wanting to live there - which is why more expensive coastal cities are still popular centers of interest. That said, I think the with proper planning from city officials and marketing campaigns as well as messaging that targets a young diverse work force, the midwest can grow into a modern economic powerhouse that rivals other large metropolitan areas in the country. A good combination of transportation within the city proper, cultural amenities, integrated bike infrastructure that increases walking and mobility plus mixed, affordable housing and working options is what has proven to attract people to certain areas.

Here in Panama City Beach and Panama City, we're starting to see the same problems as South Florida and the Carolinas' Grand Strand: the mandatory worship of a strange new god called 'Growth." Growth at any cost, Growth above all! As a kid growing up in India, I remember the Marlboro man ads in the cinemas. The blue sky, snow capped mountains, rugged terrain, a man in his cowboy hat, shearling jacket, lasso, cattle and above all, a Marlboro cigarette stuck in one corner of his mouth smoking like there isn't much to do in that place. I used to wonder, where on earth is that place? My Dad told me that it could be Montana or Colorado or Wyoming where cattle farmers hire ranch hands who ride around cattle, spinning a lasso with a Marlboro cigarette in mouth. Until that point, movies like Star Wars (the very first one) and Star Trek series gave me the impression of America as country where people went on deep outer space exploration meeting and fighting aliens. My impression about America went downhill when my Dad said that Montana, Colorado and Wyoming are states in USA. Then I thought, Is America a country of illiterate ranch help on horses smoking like chimney in a God forsaken place full of carnivores and herbivores. But Christopher Reeve's 1978 Superman movie restored my faith in USA that it is actually a country with a powerful force within that can destroy or protect anyone?....(Cigarette ads have been banned in India for quite some years now).

My state is ruined I left NE FL in 2021 when it all started then family happened and I had to come back and this place is full full full of the worst type of Tourists. Now I’m trapped in my unrecognizable home town that is literally impossible to even drive surrounded by stuck up non driving New Yorkers looking for drugs I’m sick of it. It was hard enough to get out during the pandemic now the price of absolutely EVERYTHING is 3 times what it was when I left while every single half decent job is taken by someone’s kid from out of state working just to tell mommy and daddy they have a job or I guess that’s what it is honestly none of it makes sense. I just want to be able to get out of here let the Yankees have it hell I’d sleep in my car and work for a year if I could get ahead but doing the math plus local laws I don’t think that would work out either. I guess I’m just going to be stuck here thanks NY…..
