Where do you order the door trim parts. I need to replace front and back on both sides. Great video
@TheNonnell3 күн бұрын
Door trim? 🤔 It's honestly becoming quite challenging to locate these these days. I typically source most of my parts directly from Lexus, but even then, I've noticed that some items are being phased out. I recommend checking out online Lexus parts retailers or doing a quick Google search to see if you can find anything available on eBay.

I'm not entirely sure about that. I don't think I used them either. The list I referred to was from an online source who completed the task and shared the items used. I chose to follow his list as it was more comprehensive than what I had. It was also where I discovered the part number for the VTC cam gear o-ring. I think that's the one I mentioned in the video.

Hey, Nonnell! I just came across your channel today, as I was looking up transmission and differential service on a 1998 camry. I know you posted it a few years ago, but it's what I needed! I am currently driving my parents' 1998 Camry, which they got brand new in '97, and we have been the only owners of it for these 26 years! The vehicle is currently 26 years old with 136K miles, and it never had a transmission nor a differential service done at all during its life. As of late, when I put the gear in drive, it would sometimes start backing up, and other times it will take almost a minute before it moves, even as I'm pressing the pedal. This usually happens after the car has been parked for a long time. Many sources say not to change it, while some say that I should, but just to drain and fill it,and not flush it. Should I change the fluid, given it's age and mileage,as the service has never been done on the car? My mechanic says I should, while the Totota Dealership says it can be a risk, but it's an "up in the air" kind of thing . The fluid is dark brown,but the fluid level is good on the dipstick. I am confused on what to do, Nonnell. As I have asked so many other mechanics,too!
@TheNonnell16 күн бұрын
While I may not be a professional mechanic, I am not a believer in the concept of lifelong fluids. Chemicals and lubricants inevitably deteriorate over time, which is why I make it a point to replace fluids in all of my vehicles with higher mileage. Personally, I find no issue with performing a simple drain and fill procedure. In fact, when we did this on Kamilla's 2000 Camry, it significantly improved the transmission's performance and helped to smooth out its operation.
@mc.ashlandfelix714016 күн бұрын
@@TheNonnell I appreciate it, Nonnell! And I di understand where you are coming from. My overall concern is the fact that I have never done this maintenance in the life of the vehicle, and it is approaching 30 years of age. I have no issue in doing this maintenance, which I wish I actually done it on it's required intervals. It's just hearing the notion if it was never done on a vehicle that's 10 , 15, and plus, in age, then it should be left alone. I will take my gamble. I have to rewatch the video again, was this Kamilla's first time having it done on that car, or has it been done in the life of the vehicle already??
@TheNonnell16 күн бұрын
To my knowledge, this had never been attempted previously. When we changed the transmission fluid in her 23-year-old car, I was mindful of the variances between a flush and a drain and fill. I've been cautioned by others about the risks associated with flushing, as it may dislodge debris in the transmission, leading to potential problems. However, I don't foresee this as a concern with a drain and fill procedure, as there is no high pressure or forceful flow passing through the transmission.
@mc.ashlandfelix714016 күн бұрын
@@TheNonnell I really appreciate you getting back to me, Nonnell, it helps alot! My mechanic was just telling me a flush is the best way to go, if I want to keep this transmission going, but I am really not for flushing. And just to ask you, on Kamilla's former Toyota, was this the first transmission service ever done on that car, do you know? Did she have that car from the beginning, back in 2000, or were different owners? I am only asking because I want to know if an ATF service was ever done prior to it, or by you and Alex working on it, if that was the first time the service was done. I am only asking because I want to be more set and confident in getting this service done .
@TheNonnell16 күн бұрын
She was the 3rd owner. It previously belonged to my grandmother, then my cousin, and then Kamilla. To my knowledge we were the first to do a transmission service on that Camry.
