Hi, this is the best tutorial I've seen so far. Thanks for sharing the process ❤ im making mine with a layer cake pack ( 42 pc 10" sq ) and having the first tier plus the waist band using a different coordinating fabric. 🤗

Did I miss it? How many different fabrics do you like to use for your skirts?
@piecesofthepastКүн бұрын
Hi there. No, you did not miss it. I am assuming you mean color, not fabric type (cotton/knit). I like to mix it up and I have made this skirt with a bed sheet (in all one color) and in other ways that include whatever fabrics I had on hand that went together. It is totally up to you what to use. Do stick with woven fabrics (not knits). I hope that helps 😁 ~Deborah

Hi there. I have no plans to make an additional video about this quilt, but once the binding is finished, I will post some photos of it on the Facebook group page. You can find the link to that group and join, if you are not already a member, in the description of every video we make. It is on top of my stack to bind as we speak, so it should be finished soon. 😁 ~Deborah

Great way to remember a love one. Do you do customer orders. I can sew, but I don’t have the heart to cut my late husband’s shirts up to make the pillows? I want to give my two grandchildren one each.
@piecesofthepast7 күн бұрын
I am sorry, but I do not make custom orders anymore. The hardest part is cutting into the shirts for the first time, but you can do it. Just think of the memories you will be sharing when you give those pillows to your grandchildren. Thanks for watching! ~Deborah

I know this is an old video, but how did you get your Juki 1181 to sew such thin materials? I'm jealous! I use my Juki DX7 to sew cotton, but I'd love to use my 1181 to do so. Did you just adjust the tension to nothing and sew with a smaller thread and needle? Thanks for any tips.
@piecesofthepast23 күн бұрын
Yes, it is mainly about tension and needle choice. Also, be sure to lighten up on the pressure of the presser foot. It doesn't take much pressure to pull through cotton fabrics. Use a smaller needle and thread, and lighten up on the tension. It takes some playing around with, but it does work beautifully once you have it dialed in. Now I readily switch between sewing fabrics for quilts to leather for bags by adjusting the settings back and forth. Good luck! ~Deborah

Would you do it the same way with a suit jacket??
@piecesofthepast27 күн бұрын
Yes. I think that would make a larger pillow, but the concept would be the same. I would also cut away any bulk under the lapel, etc. if possible. _Deborah

I watched your video and made a pillow out of a shirt from my deceased husband‘s for my daughter for Christmas. It came out great thank you so much. Keep up the good work, Pam.

The quilt that you have on your longarm at 3.22 or so in this video. Can you tell me the size of the squares and the size of the quilt? That really caught my eye.
@piecesofthepastАй бұрын
This was a client's quilt and the squares were 2.5" cut size (2" finished). The final quilt size was 82" x 88". It was a LOT of squares. LOL. ~Deborah

I purchased my Juki 2010Q in 2014 and I noticed it’s still the same price 10 years later! It’s well worth the money and I’m so happy I bought it! I do theatrical costuming and use it on a daily basis. This machine powers through all kinds kinds of fabrics, even leather and heavy handwovens. I own several sewing machines and this is definitely the one that gets used the most! It’s reliable and easy to maintain. Nothing beats this mechanical sewing machine for heavy use. I especially like the automatic thread cutter being on both the machine and foot pedal. Genius!
