STEEPEST?!? How lame! That was all blue & mediocre black runs. There are dozens of MUCH steeper chairlift-accessible good-skier-capable runs like Nose, Nose-Chutes, Big Balls, 75 Chute, Dead Tree, Portal, Powder Horn, Dead Man's, Tom's Tumble, North Bowl, Inner-Thigh, Slot, Papoose Gulley, Strainer, Light Towers, Bailey's Cirque, Tram Bowl, Medusa Chutes, Mr. Toad's, Funnel, Diving Board, Magoo's, & Corkscrew, not to mention good-skier hike-able runs like any of Main Chute, Extra Chute, Kitchen Wall, Granite Peak, or Mainline Pocket (several of which were featured in Warren Miller films). And then there's the insane-skier in-bounds stuff like Eagle's Nest, Fingers, Chimney, Ludwig's Castle, China Wall, etc.

Heavenly in the opening clip park blows. A51 was good in the 2010s. It sucks now. I lived there for 17 years and moved to south tahoe. Northstar park is the best park in the country for average park rider. Mammoth for pros.

I'm a beginner park skier and I'm 1m76 and 63kg (5,9" and 138 punds). What size ski's should I get? I was also thinking of the head oblivion 79. Any tips? Thanks!

I just hit 66 mph yesterday. It has been a goal of mine for years to crack 60. Snowbasin has terrific groomers that are perfect for high speed.

rails always look big and scary but once you realize all to gotta do is go full 90 and lean forward it gets less scary

I’m a snowboarder and my kids ski. We tried both but skiing was a more stable and intuitive platform for the youngsters to learn on. Maybe they’ll pick up snowboarding when they are older, it’s up to them

Dumb q - "fun" means different things to different people. If outright speed is your thing, skis, obviously. If floating on powder, probably boards. Both are fun.

I would have thought rails were a lot easier on skis, since you can control balance along the rail with your two legs. When boardsliding on a snowboard you really need to lean correctly or you'll fall.

Hahaha we were up there the same time. Epic snow. 8 ft of snow. We got to top of Comstock Express on Sunday just as they opened it and fresh pow for a few runs. The visibility and wind gusts of 50mph weren't great but haven't had pow like that in years.

In short: Skiing - easy to learn, Hard to master. Snowboarding - Hard to learn, easy to master. Also: Snowboarding has quick entry bindings. A few examples are; Nidecker supermatics, Burton step ons and the clew bindings. So don't worry about keeping up with your Skiier friends. Also, there are such things as "all-mountain " Skis. Think of it as your one ski do it all. No need for powder skis on deep powder. They might not be as good as true powder skis but, if you're an occasional skiier or, if you ski out east, then these skis will suffice
