not sure if anyone gave you this tip but when forming a caravan to trade with nearby settlements you should bring/tame a pack animal. pack animals allows you to carry more things that you can trade with the nearby settlements. animals such as the muffalo and alpacas are pack animals. yeah thats all i can say for now.

Caravans are just scary. Critical colonists must be removed from your base to go somewhere else (where they might die) so you have less workers and less base defense. Tip of the day: If you can get your hands on Chain Shotguns, use them preferably. They are the best DPS from the research I’ve done. They fire a burst fire of 3 shots and deal the same damage as a pump shotgun while only having a slightly worse ranged cooldown and aiming time (those are the two factors that effect how long you have to wait between shots) After you get component fabrication, I’d recommend researching Gas Operation and manufacturing Chain Shotguns for all your colonists.

Good job. Some minor tips I can give are - the power conduit reduces beauty in the room when they go through the floor as well as the power generator. This may seem unimportant but having a beautiful room can increase mood up to +15 which is very useful. - having dedicated rooms (e.g a kitchen, a rec room, bedroom ect.) can give you benefits as well. For example having a sterile kitchen can decrease the chances of cooking food that would give you food poisoning. - To see the quality of any given room and the beauty of a certain area is hotkey-ed to G and T respectfully or by clicking the picture of the man icon and the stats-looking bar icon on the bottom right side under the game speed buttons.

Also, a couple of kind of un-intuitive fire tips: Fire can jump over one-tile gaps. You need to have two rows of non-flammable flooring (ie anything except carpet, straw, or wood) to stop it completely. If a fire breaks out indoors, knock down an exterior wall to vent the heat before fighting it. That's what caused your colonists to start taking damage in the last fire.

Colonists won't manually give animals kibble unless they're downed. You need to set up a high-priority stockpile or shelf that holds kibble right inside the pen; the animals will then be able to eat it on their own.
@missfunerella5 күн бұрын
How do I make it high priority?
@gnosticinstitue5 күн бұрын
@@missfunerella When you select the shelf or stockpile, there's a tab called "Storage." That lets you specify what gets held there and what priority the storage has. By default, zones are Normal and shelves are Preferred, so setting something to Important or higher means that colonists will store allowed items there first and use other valid storage options as overflow.

One thing I'm surprised I've never trued yet is nutrient paste. It's supposed to be more efficient because it eliminates the need for a cook but there are probably downsides like the food giving a negative debuff because it's probably gross but if your pawn has a certain ideology then they might like it
@lukeelbourne529014 күн бұрын
Fire is super annoying but boy is it helpful when it's on your side. Good think about this game is how you can turn anything to your advantage if you're creative enough. And that gets even crazier with mods. Careful with mods tho. Some mods might make the game ALOT harder Also cold snap,blights and raiders can be a disaster for food stuff. A good big storage room is the backbone of a flourishing colony. Get really greedy but not toooo greedy. Too much food is better than too little food.

@@missfunerella Alright. My two biggest recommendations are “Smart Speed” and RimHUD. The former just allows you to set the game faster than 3x speed, and the latter gives you a more information dense pawn info screen. Those two aren’t intrusive and they just make it easier for you to experience the game. I hope this helps!

Add animals to your caravan for more carry weight and go faster. Herbi/omnivores can graze along the way. But bring some extra kibble (make it at a butcher table) if you plan on going through tiles without much vegetation. The more you bring the more visible you are and are more likely to be ambushed. Though caravan raids tend to be pretty mild compared to what you'll get at your main base. Take enough bed rolls for everyone traveling to sleep in and a little bit of medicine for good measure. Overall though don't overthink it too much. I'll often send a single colonist with decent social skills out on a horse to trade with nearby settlements and be back within a day or two.

healing animals is a bit confusing because you often won't have animal sleeping spots for them at first. Make a medical sleeping spot, and your colonist will be able to take an injured animal to it (they'll even go by themselves if they're just a bit sick). Then you can tend normally.

The ambrosia on the map put a growing zone around it and disallow sowing, they will havest it when they are ready :) Also setting a drug policy to consure under ~30% mood will help with low mood!!! Its one of the best drugs for mood as theyre is no downside really
@missfunerella17 күн бұрын
Wait, around it or also on it? And does that drug setting mean they’ll only consume the drug when under the thirty percent?
@harryscott28817 күн бұрын
@@missfunerella yeah so just put the growing zone over the plants and disable sowing. your pawns will then harvest it when its growing, this can be done forever as long as the plant is alive. I typically put a wall around it and disable the roof so they can grow and wont set alight. With the drug policy they will consume everyday as if their mood is under 30%. The ambosia lasts about 16hrs.

Very low chance at addiction with ambrosia. Followed by a little bit of a rough mood penalty once they go through withdrawals. In 700 hours I've never had a pawn become an ambrosia addict. I HAVE however accidentally had a couple toddlers become alcoholics though.

Setting up a caravan isn't too tricky but in true rimworld fashion there's always a chance of tragedy. You'll want to make sure you've got some food, medicine and a bedroll for the longer trips. Also consider which colonists you want to send and the impact they'll have on your base while away (for example, if you take your cook they wont be making food for the colony anymore). Open up the world map, click the "Send Caravan" button, create the path to take with right clicks, Click "Accept", pick the colonists and other items you want to take along, click send. The colonists will then start to pack the items and walk off to the edge of the map. Also keep an eye on the top and bottom of the caravan setup screen where it will show you the number of days travel and the number of days food packed. Don't forget to consider the return trip too!

@@missfunerella Don't know if the link will even show up for you, but I hope you see it. It's to the official wiki of the game. Go down to the Fertility part. Fertility increases differently by gender. Women's fertility increases until age 20, but starts dropping at age 28 until it reaches 0% at age 50. If you're scared of hurting a berserk colonist too much, you could always force-Melee a pawn or two on them so at most you'll only have bruises. If the colonist you're using to bring them down is carrying a melee weapon, you could also force-drop that weapon beforehand. Other than that, it's always fun seeing someone's first playthrough and knowing that you're managing your colony well.

Rimworld is one of those games that teaches you by making you fail, but you seem to be handling things quite well 😂 Importantly, you shouldn’t roof over crops, as they require high amounts of light which torches arent enough to give. You can only use sun lamps to grow crops indoors which need power. Your colony on the map is the light blue house looking one, that icon is reserved for the player and isnt used by any other colonies. You can click on the second icon on the right with the building with a flag to see a list of all factions on the map. You can go to the settlements of any faction that is neutral or allied with you to trade with them, the same way trade caravans can visit you. Nice to see that you’re enjoying the game, its always great to see new people playing it

im pretty sure my very first winter back when I first bought the game resulted in death due to no food. I hugely underestimated the amount to stockpile. Tips going forward try and spend time in summer growing multiple different crops. Try a medium patch of rice in rich soil, small corn patch in rick soil, and a medium patch of potatoes in normal or poor soil. Scale it up a few tiles each crop for every new new colonist you obtain. If you have the time to spare slap a few healroots down in rich soil. Like 10 or so.
