Just wondering - has anyone actually seen Jack Nicholson and Alan Gorrie in the same place at the same time?

Mostly, I listen to music for the music itself & don’t really pay attention to the lyrics but always listened to Chapin for his lyrics.

Saw him in concert late 70's. Sat there singing along with all of his songs. Miss him terribly.

I never heard the sequel before. I enjoyed it as much as Taxi. I always loved Harry's songs. As others have said, he was a great story teller. I was living on Long Island in 1981 when Harry lost his life on the LIE.

I’ve been listening to this Masterpiece since 1971 when it first came out…..It’s a Story of its own and the People are for Real as they live each Day of their lives not knowing how the journey will end….Vaya Con Dios Harry Chaplin….Greg

Discovered this TV show late in my life. Was always made to believe that this was not only corny but negative in that it idealized American family life. Now older, I see it for what it is and that family is in fact a beautiful thing and that TV shows can entertain and make you feel good, and this show does both.

Harry had two brothers, one played cello. I'm guessing that's him on stage with him. We went to High School together (one of the two not Harry) although Harry went to the same school. Perhaps it's the other brother on bass. I just heard the credits at the end...so it's Pete (?) and Tom. Memories of Brooklyn Tech ....oh and one outrageous assembly period when Harry made a surprise appearance.

My God it's now May 2024 and I am still remembering the first time I heard this song - early seventies Nashville Ramada Inn lounge band called Blue Creek. The base player was Tommy Cushing and the Board operator was the bandleader's wife, Pat. This song was a standard request every nite performed by the drummer -I forgot his name. Thank you Mr. Chapin!
