The combination of ACE to advance frames + the RNG abuse to get a perfect IV shiny Torchic & Deoxys with a specific nature and hidden power with ice type is so absolutely absurd and bonkers. I can fully see why it took 20 years to figure this all out.

It is almost impossible to consistently set up the Lake Trio because if you don't speak to them perfectly infront of them they will turn, which adds advances, and because using the D-Pad only turns you 90° and doesn't lock you to the grid it helps a little bit is also still super inconsistent, not to mention that if you accidentally walk into the Pokemon you'll get pushed to the side, guaranteeing they'll turn if you talk to them.

Honestly, as someone who's never tried RNG manipulation, I feel like people saying it's illegitimate or illegal are wildly salty, for no reason. "My way of spending weeks of time hunting for a shiny Pokemon can beat up *your* way of doing weeks of research to get a shiny Pokemon!" Like, come on guys. Give me a break. Simply knowing how the game works isn't cheating. That's like saying people who battle and understand type weaknesses are cheating. Just objectively wrong on all fronts. Stop being salty. Whether to you're doing the research/timing practice to grind for a shiny or soft resetting a bajillion times, both methods are simply understanding game mechanics, and committing to different strategies to get the same result.

This is so nostalgic. I used to use pokefinder in the original DPP games. I was too young to understand how it actually worked, so it felt like cheating but with skill. Very cool to see how the technique has evolved to keep up with the 3D games

YEEEEESSSS. IT WORKED. I was trying it on rom first and it just wasn't working. On ROM I tried retyping the box names like 3 times and still it didn't work so I was like fuck it imma just try it on cartridge and wala it worked. Thank you so much man
