It's so strange. The version my mom remembers from when she was in school in the 70's, is, 'Georgie Porgie pudding and pie, he kissed the girls and made them cry, and when the boys came out to play, he kissed them too and ran away.' I only found out recently upon googling it that it wasn't the actual version, I was so confused and so was my mom Lmao.

This could go back all the way to King Tut. His grandmother was from the UK and their family likely had very long distance connections to Scythians... Tut means mulberry. not just "image" in Egyptian. They were very intelligent people and it would have been a indirect reference to silkworms and silk being a precious commodity. humpty dumpty could go back. way back to that young boy's passing on.

My mom said that in a college class she took. It was taught that the heads of criminals were stuck in spikes along the bridge. As the flesh would decade it was like London bridge was falling down. The line about take the keys and lock her up suggest the song is about criminals.

The spider in this rhyme is the same as Miss Muffet; they were warnings to children about creepy men. Boys have water spouts, and a girl will have to "tuffit" if the spider catches her, and they'll both be crying tears of rain until the sun comes up. So hopefully the spider is gone, and not climbing the spout again. They're English spoken lore before there was a law against it that you could actually access from poverty. I'm a behavioral analyst and there are nuggets like this all over poetry, fiction, legend and myth.

When I researched the origins of this poem, 25 years ago, it traced back to the middle of the crusades . . . Never heard of these sisters before. How interesting that so many other people haven’t either. Wikipedia has done its job. Also very convenient that not only are there rare period portraits of these obscure sisters famous for an equally obscure children’s rhyme, but detailed biographical info as well as their home being preserved. To be honest I was curious about this song for multiple reasons This tone Note 🎶 in multiple kids songs Like for example 1. English Alphabet in toy's 2. Greek Alphabet in toy's 3. Also the Greek version of this song is for the moon and school 🏫 base of rumours and the lirics on the Greece version off this I think it was made somwerd 1800 according to Greek history this the are hidden school that works in night 🌃 secretly from the Turks Back then the Greek they had conquered it Turks according to Greek history However I'm haven't burn back then and I don't have much history knowledge for what happen back then Also I don't have any clue if this song origin back then or some time after. I'm able to say that the Greek version most likely say for the event for the potential secret school's. This very rough translation off the Greek version bright moon 🌝 little my for my to walk in the order to get to school and to learn the latters , the last 2 word don't really translate Enway I'm very corious this song no matter if this secret school is if those school are real or not. The funny thin is this use very small kid song most kids don't even know about all those secret school stuff in those age's. And wean grow up I don't think most kids pay attention on the secret school in 1800 I I'm not even sure if newer school history books 📚 saying about all this screact school's 🏫. But this moon song it's the Greek version of the taking taking little star ⭐ And the use in both toys lullaby ECT in Greece 🌝 The most feetting title for translate name for greac name is little bright moon 🌝
