Before I watched this video I figured out myself and your the only person who figured it out on KZbin it was very interesting how the Duke of the Norman’s William got crowned king he had 10,00 men and Harold the great had 7,000 men I love this video

They go back so much further than you say. A duke would be similar to a petty king after the fall of the Romans
