Has anyone figured out how to input notes via external midi keyboard and play back via the same external keyboard? I asked lots of people but they're only able to talk about their beloved plugins.

I've been trying to get a straight answer on whether MacBooks can play Arena because my old lady likes to play it and is used to Mac but everybody says it sucks. It overheats, or the resolution is wrong, or it can't go full screen, or they have to use a Windows emulator, or it drains the battery in 10 minutes. It's the same old stuff since the 90s. You end up paying double for something that sucks. Paying out the arse for a "computer" that can't even play arena.. 😂 That's like a bike that comes with no chain.

I play Arena on MacBook Pro almost every day. There are occasionally quarks, but for the most part it's fine and has been for over a year. Also, I didn't buy this machine to game, I bought to create music and edit video and it's 10000% better at that than any Windows machine I've ever owned.

Logan - i started using AUM a bit over a month ago, your tutorials and channel have been extremely helpful. Thank you so much. I do have a question (may have missed it somewhere), but - say I don’t have a hardware midi controller and want to use the AUM internal midi keyboard with my synth channels - is there a way to assign the internal keyboard to each channel? That is, i want a complete separate internal midi keyboard assigned to each synth channel - not one keyboard over multiple synth channels where i would have to split the keyboard into sections amongst the synths. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance - Grey F♾️l 😌

The build in internal keyboard can't do that, BUT you may be able to find an AUV3 midi controller keyboard to do something like. I've not tried that, so I can't be sure. My suggestion would be to a get a cheap(ish) bluetooth midi keyboard. Midi is so small that there is almost 0 latency.

I'm a lifelong fan of Bach, and love the way F.M. can help me generate that kind of music. Nice demonstration of Fugue Machine, and AUM. I want to add voice through a headset that has a mic, mix everything on my iPad, and send that wirelessly to Powered speakers or the Behringer XAir mixer over wifi and then to the amp/speakers. Can AUM mix my loop and incoming live voice and give me a stereo out?

As far as I know, this should work. AUM sends Bluetooth audio to my AirPods just fine, so as long as I have a device that it reads as a Bluetooth audio receiver, then you should be good. There will be a delay because if the Bluetooth audio latency, so if you’re trying to rhythmic speaking, it might cause an issue. You are probably better off sending it into an audio device (like a Scarlet 2i2) over USB, then wired to the mixer.

I’m not entirely sure, I don’t have a BSP anymore. But I don’t see why not, the BSP is powered, so it shouldn’t pull too much power. Not sure about Koala compatibility, though.

can you comment on how you are using Send A & B, it looks to be a Cue mix?

That's exactly right. My audio device is an Aggregate Device (set up in Mac OS) that combines my Scarlet 8i6 and Blackhole. Outputs 1/2 of the Aggregate Device are going into Blackhole, which is going into OBS for streaming. That is set as my main output. Outputs 3/4 are the Cue Out, routed into the Scarlet to my headphones. I was in a bit of hurry to set the tracks up this way, so I decided to just send every track to an Aux track (usually A or B, in one case E), which was then routed to the Cue Out along with the metronome when needed. There is probably a better way to send the tracks to the cue, but that was the best I could do in a time crunch. I schedule the Livestream a bit early than I was really ready for as a way to force me to get the setlist together and figure out the setup.

Hey Jacob, great vid as usual. Question... do you not have to go into your MIDI Matrix and make the connection between the BSP and the MIDI Control in AUM? I can't seem to get them to talk otherwise so you must have don't this before you started the video?

I tried to export garageband file made by geoshred audiounit. Its not possible it crashes all the time. Is it possible to record geoshred with aum app than export the file as an wav format on ipad to send it afterwards over email somewhere else?

I know this was asked a long time ago, and I apologize for not seeing it sooner. You can load GeoShred into AUM as an Inter-App Audio node then record from AUM using the instructions in this video.

What’s the difference between this video and the more recent one you uploaded about 9 months ago? 👀 Was there updates or something? lol I’ve watched endless videos on people using AUM or AudioBus or a combination of the 2 together to sync different iOS synth/drum machine apps and for chaining iOS FX apps together as well is integrating those with both Logic Pro on MacOS and hardware synths that are controlled & sequenced by in my case a Keystep Pro, and I got the connections down no problem, but I start getting lost not too far after that point each time 😅😂

Thanks for the video! It was helpful to see that you are using a USB interface for audio in. I was trying the Lightning to headphone adapter with a TRRS adapter which works poorly at best, and I now see that Kymatica doesn't really recommend that method. For now I'll stick with Logic Pro on my iMac for external devices since my old Roland USB interface doesn't work with the iPad.

Great video, Logan. Question: The setlist of our band comprises about 30 songs. I use ForScore to change my patches on Modx7+ via midi program change - which works great. How can I change AUM Sessions (using ForScore) to the appropriate one at the same time? TIA for your feedback. PS: URL-Button does not work for this in ForScore.

I just bought the Comica Vimo Q4 wireless mic set. It says it has 4 channel audio mixing if connected to a recorder or mixer. If you aren't familiar with it, it has 1 receiver and 4 transmitters. The audio modes are mono, stereo, and quad. I will be connecting the receiver to my iPhone when recording videos. My current issue is that with it connected directly to my iPhone, no matter which audio mode I use, in post production I only have 1 audio channel even though I'm using 4 wireless mics. My question is, does AUM work as a recorder/mixer so I can have 4 individual audio channels from 1 receiver and 4 mics?

It should work that way. When I run my Focusrite in, I can record several channels individually. Since the receiver has those three modes, is there a settings somewhere to tell out which one to use?

@@MobileMusicMaker the instructions are very limited but I know I’d use the “Quad” mode to record 4 audio tracks simultaneously. My issue is, would I be able to use the AUM app to get 4 audio tracks simultaneously while being able to use my camera app on my phone to record the audio/video. The receiver for the mics would be plugged into my phone which I would use to record a video/audio plus running AUM app so I can get 4 audio channels. Sorry if that’s confusing. I already tried garage band but my issue was that I can’t record the 4 mics simultaneously. Plus it doesn’t work while trying to use my camera app.

Thanks for this quick tip! I really was one of those who thinks he needs ableton😅 till now! Also I liked your small setup of apps which so easily put out a quite nice melody.
