The editor of this series deserves a legendary gift. This is just such brilliance offered throughout. I can't stop watching it, even after decades of viewing.

I honestly don't get American humour.. it's totally different to ours...
@zeddeka3 жыл бұрын
Why would you? All humour is based on culture. Different countries have different cultures. If you don't get the cultural resonance of a joke you're not going to get it. Victoria Wood once said nobody in America would get her as her humour is all based on subtle elements of British culture. You wouldn't expect an American to get a joke about the cultural significance of custard creams.

I love funny women. You have to be smart to make a career of comedy. Maybe not all of these women are conventionally attractive but beauty is subjective, there's always someone that will think you're beautiful and I wouldn't say any of them are ugly.

This was wonderful, thank you for uploading! Dawn French is an excellent listener with a hearty laugh. She would be excellent as a talk-show host. Think BBC! This is a queen of comedy, use her talents!

theres a cut-off date for most comedians, it seems. at around 40-50 most stop being as funny as they were, i think they're more interested in other things and their mind slows down a little tiny bit and probably lots of other reasons, too. only 2 people have maintained their level and even improved it in their later years- joan rivers and barry humphries.

As for the clip at the end of this installment, I've figured out that the old gentleman is Peter Brough and his dummy Archie Andrews; from the show Educating Archie - but who is the lady playing Monica the schoolgirl?

janotosinnunumerous, I think there aren't many SNL people there because the focus is on those known to the British population and few British people had access to SNL when these were recorded. The sketch at 9.19 is Beryl Reid talking to Peter Brough, famous for a radio ventriloquism act with his puppet Archie.
