That’s a damn good video I just watched! I have a 100 hours in Velocidrone and just now I’m saving up for my first fpv drone. If anyone has experience with flying a freestyle 5 inch and tinywhoop drones, which one should a beginner like me go for? I’m really not too sure because I like the inertia the 5 inch quads in the sim have. Being able to fling yourself and do whatever dodecahedron Rubik’s cube and only then feeling your quad begin to fall is really appealing to me. 😆

I wish you had a category for people who dont want to be on the internet at all to use a simulator. So far I only use fpv freeriders cause it's the only one I found so far. But like you said, it's only a 2 😢

Hey @brodiereed ! Thanks for the video! Does anyone know how to connect your controller to velocidrone on a MacBook? I’m trying to connect my DJI avata controller to the Velocidrone simulator and I can’t do it. Can you help me out on how to get it right? Thanks a lot!

So the only downside is that it apparently only works with the intended-to-buy combo? Im about to start on the fvp drone gig so maybe its a big deal to some people but to say “WARNING” at the thumbnail is a bit too much dont you think? Still good review

While I appreciate the video and 90% of it was excellent…. It’s difficult to judge performance of a game as far as optimization goes when you are playing a Mac. All comments about running well or not due to graphics go out the window for me.

Isn't this in the hobby called a radio rather than a controller? Not to be confused by the flight controller which is the brains of the drone.

I sold my DJI FPV, i bought it 2 weeks before first avata got released, sold it for 750 €, it was very bad to carry around and i could not take it to plan due to the size. Got my hands on second hand avata 2 fly more combo for 850€ with delivery, i had no intention of buying it but could not get away from that deal so i got it. Can sell it for 1100€ now. Very happy, very big improvements over first DJI FPV. I have never used first avata so cant compare to it. It has 2h flight in logs so it is almost brand new.

Maybe it's just me but none of these helped me practice flying a drone. They all dont replicate how my DJI Mini 4 pro actually flies, which is going forward horizontally when I move right stick up, and going backward when moving right stick down. Instead, each sim flips the drone. Really annoying, am I in the wrong category here (fpv)? I just want to practice flying a normal drone in a sim, not a complex fpv drone. Surely im not th only one? I dont see why ive found it so hard to find anyone who has asked the same thing

I find it weird that you didn't mention repairability or upgradability as major selling points. To me, these are the most important things. I would give a little room for "durability" or gimbals, for instance, if I could repair or upgrade them later. Radiomaster, for instance, essentially has all their parts easily purchasable from their website, as well as being able to upgrade things like gimbals.

@@BrodieReedHello Brodie. So it‘s a really nice video and a good perspective of what to expect with the avata. But personally I think you should give a good explanation about the difference between the avata and a self build. I know you built your own drone, and so did I. Maybe my experience was better with how things worked out, but there is a night and day difference between flying the avata and a normal fpv drone. When people buy the avata as their first drone, they all say it is wonderful, but we all know that they aren‘t getting the full experience. This might be controversial, but I will never see the avata as an real fpv drone. What I mean by that is that you are getting a toy, not a hobby. And most people won‘t have money to buy a whole kit and then buy other goggles, controller and a new drone.

Im just starting with FPV. Question is, should you buy a avata at all? From my Research there should be better alternatives like a nasgul. And i cant wait to build my own 😅
@LarsEchterhoff12 күн бұрын
In case you are sure about your plans to enter FPV, there are two experiences: Start with an avata and you will out grow it within 6 Months. Guaranteed. Its is like, you can't switch off the automatic assistance systems and while you progress with control over your quad, it will limit you. On the other hand, a nazgul might feel scary and overwhelming to start with. It is like starting driving with a super sport car. So my tip is: It depends on what you wanna do. If you just want enjoying cruising FPV, an avata is pretty awesome and will you enable to do that without stress and fear. If you are about to send your quad and plan to start learning tricks, risking your quad, you might wanna skip the avata. Especially the version 2 because she might take a beat, but will certainly not survive harder impacts. You should be willing to let these 500 Euro go... Like, ehhm, yes, in case you plan to power loop to the moon and back and are serious about progressing, you should not be afraid off spending about 100 Euro per month in median. You will crash and you will break stuff. That's part of the hobby. The avata is rather a fpvish freestyleable cinewhoop. Neither a mini4 nor a nazgul. Somewhere in the middle of those.
@littledoseTM12 күн бұрын
@@LarsEchterhoffthanks for the tips! Will go for a self build drone, cant wait building/fixing them 😅 Also spending a truckload of hours in the sim bevore, just crusing aint gonna cut it for me.
@LarsEchterhoff12 күн бұрын
@@littledoseTM I have started with the avata and then got a nazgul. The I bought a 3inch and after 2 years, I usually grab my 2inch betafpv pavo20 for some fun. The 5 inchs stress me still out because of their weight and danger. 😅
@tiefseetaucherr10 күн бұрын
Please listen to me. The avata might be a good drone. But thats it. It is not an introduction to the hobby, it‘s an introduction to flying. You don‘t learn anything about soldering, electronics and generally it is just a toy rather than a hobby. I saw your comment below that you will do a self build, and thats the best decision you will ever do! You learn SO MUCH and it is SO MUCH FUN! I mean a nazgul is pretty dang cool, probably better than your self built, but I see a lot of people buying a nazgul, goggles 2 and using the rc 2 with the air unit (which is a terrible idea don‘t ever do that), and then when they crash it is up to you how to tell them oh yeah do that buy that. Long story short, going with a custom built drone is a wonderful idea, and it will pretty much change your life. Hope to seeing you in the air!
