I found that bullets weights under 2900 fps work okay with 1in7 20 inches barrel...above 2900 fps 40 to 52 varmint loads I have no idea what twist to buy...but 1in7 scatters varmint loads

Iv'e handled a few DTI-15s and I find Del-ton's QC is just all over the place. Some of their rifles are G-2-G but others are unfireable, right out of the box.

You can’t go wrong with either manufacturer they are both well-made and made in America. I bought a Daniel Defense. It wasn’t for me. It wasn’t fully Amby. I bought the LWRCDI which is fully Amby. I liked it so much. I bought better flagship SPR a year later, I love them both

Mav 88 20ga with a pistol grip or stock seems to be a good budget defense gun for me with #4 buck. This combo works well up to 25 yards.

The 700 ADL was the best basic rifle also available in LH in the early 70's.

Anderson and BCA barrels certainly live up to their "reputation". I wonder what it looks like under a borescope. Maybe it would be a good candidate to run hard at three gun events? Or some other lesser use case.

B King's Firearms are having a sale now. You can buy an upper that meets your check list for what it would cost for a barrel and handrail. I think the BKF barrels are made by Ballistic Advantage. Do not let the price fool you they are very accurate. I have five BKF uppers and I am an accuracy snob so I would not keep buying them if they were not accurate.

I have a lot of nostalgia of these shotguns myself. I own a really nice one now. Back in the day my Dad had one and we went with a distant relation to my Mon that my Dad at that time did not hunt with before. We got to the cornfield we were going to hunt and my Dad and my Mom's relation pulled out the same JC Higgins model 20. Back then Browning auto fives were the king and Winchester model 12's second place. Everything else just was the lower tier guns...even the Wingmaster which is still my favorite.
