Memories of my yesteryear as a 4-year-old and my mother holding me in her arms as her big right hand and my small right hand is clasp together as she waltzes across the room listening to this song on the transistor radio, pressure cooker steaming as the aroma of the split peas fill the air.

A time when life was simpler and so much sweeter...hearing it as a child sitting at the breakfast table..mom with the radio on. Days when we walked to the bus stop and played outside. I love this song.♥️

Lovely and memorable song! I think of my mother (1936-2014) who used to play this a lot in my childhood. Today I can see why she had all these albums with him, he was really goodlooking.😉

Am so grateful I was able to see Herb in concert a few years ago, during an outdoor concert in San Diego. It was a beautiful star lit night, with a sold out crowd enjoying all his major hits, including this one! One of my favorites was when the first few notes of "Rise" started... OMG... goosebumps! Great memories! 🤗

This brings me back to the sixties and the variety shows back then like the Dean Martin Show. They had singers, comedians and did sketches, real entertainment. I wish the networks would go back to this kind of venue.

👏 OMG 💕 - They BOTH bring back SO many 🌟 memories! I’m 70ish now, but was 1st exposed to Herb A./Tijuana Brass when my parents listened to their music, and being young I liked it too. I also knew ALL Burt’s music and lyrics to EVERYTHING he wrote - and STILL do. When I was 5y.o. I began training as a classical pianist and organist, but in my young ‘babysitting’ yrs., I would play Burt’s music on the family’s 🎹 I regularly sat for, as well as on my own in my ‘free’ time. It’s funny in a way how a SINGLE video such as this has the ability to bring many of ‘us’ older (Baby Boomers) back to a time when MUSIC was ‘real’, and LIFE in general was ‘simple’ in comparison with today (as mentioned in many comments). It’s so sad 😢 those 👍 days are gone forever - but fortunately the 😊 memories do remain!

My mom sang this every night when I was a youngster. I sang it to my sons, Chris and Willie when they were small. Chris left us to go be with Father God on 11/5/2020. “Once you pass the portals, you can never return again.” Such an appropriate verse for all Dads to remember to cherish their sons and daughters today. Tomorrow isn’t promised. But we know God loves you very dearly. Especially close to you when we’re sad, broken hearted, feeling small and all alone. Love to all Dads and Sons! Smile through the tears

This song has me zoned in on mid -June 1968. One of the gals in my Freshman class in high school held a post Freshman year party that weekend at her house for a couple dozen or so of us. When this song suddenly came on the radio the whole room got quiet and we took in every word. It was as if we all knew this song would turn into a very cherished oldie of our youth one day. We were right!!
