Cooling system are meant to have antifreeze but not transmissions
@marlinezell6395 сағат бұрын
It looks like that the tube wall is about a 1/4 of an inch thick. I think the transmission fluid is in that 1/4 which would explain why the bottom tank is covered in tranny fluid. It's escaping through the leak.

Mopar Transmission Cooler Flush is sold on Amazon ($45/gal), and works to flush my 2017 Ram heater core. A harborfreight drill powered water pump ($15) clear hoses with an old sock filter and a bucket is what i use. The Sock catched the crud and i recycle the flush through the heater core for about 15 minutes, switch the hoses periodically to flush both directions. Then flush with clean water before reassembly. I do this about every 100k miles or so. I replace coolant (Napa HD) every 80-100k. At 625k now and still fairly hot. I first tried with Prestone Radiator flush mixed strong but it did nothing.

It looks like Barr's Stop leak was poured in the radiater to solve another problem and IT plugged the Heater core.

i bet that now they cool the turbo there is the real heat that breaks it down. and people think they can go 50K miles on a oil change might be involved as well.

Your diagnosis is incorrect. Someone mixed green antifreeze in with the oem which caused this. But hey. It’s your story tell it how you want. Keep promoting MISINFORMATION

Best time to flush a heater core is in the summer. Some years ago I fixed my mother in law's Taurus by removing the thermostat and draining the system then filling it with straight distilled water and Prestone Flush. Flushed it three times and left the heat on until it cleaned out and started giving heat, took maybe three weeks. Can't run without antifreeze in the winter too long without having problems. Happy Motoring.

2 minutes into the vid my guess is injector connector. Ill report back later. Nice work. So many injectors got replaced for no reason on these trucks. I keep a pigtail and fuel line tools in the truck as most of these can be fixed in a shady spot of a parking lot

What is the root cause for all these plugged cores? No issues with the core in my 1990 Dodge Ramcharger until decided to start leaking last year. Always had good heat
@hrdieselКүн бұрын
I think it’s because of all the heat that must be removed from the system causing the antifreeze to break down

I had a hard downshift into 4th gear in my 6r140. After installing the new valve body i put the new id in and reset the tcm as mentioned. -Your video was very helpful. Anyway i Went for a drive and noticed severe flaring when shifting. 200 miles later the flaring has improved but it is still there. Would a KAM reset do any good, do i need to drive the truck more to allow more adaptation or what would you recommend?

Use cat extended life antifreeze. On most gas engines you can usually flush a heater core very easily in less then 1 hr
@ronaldbrosius74886 күн бұрын
Use CLR, works amazing, either flush in a loop, for awhile, or drain coolant from heater core, fill with CLR let sit for 1 hr, then use a flushing tool like he has, go back and forth in both directions!(usually works great!) If you have this heater core tool, remove the office, but use your head, with the air,and water pressure.

The radiator flushes available before the EPA would have cleaned out that core. I remember when all the best flushes were made illegal in the 1970s. I bought a couple cases that lasted me into the late 1980s.

This style of Ram has this issue often! My opinion is it is something with the coolant they switched to and the EGR. Mine was a 2014 and looked just like that. Of course it always had the T swapped that was plastic to metal so there is a chance they used the wrong coolant before I owned it. I don’t use dealer antifreeze on these anymore. Used Peak Lifetime Global instead. I use Prestone on GMs I have and don’t pay extra for the Dex Cool version. If you look into coolants many of them are now a Dex clone but you have to decide if you want that or one without 2EHA or not. I prefer the Peak honestly that doesn’t use that on the Mopars.

Unfortunately it’s not a cheap fix which I figure you know already. It depends if you want to do injectors while you’re in there anyway. It usually runs around $10,000 plus. I usually like to recommend people use ARP head studs.

Heater cores need to be used more often than 2 or 3 times a year, just to flush out stagnant coolant. Turn on the heat for a few minutes every time you do an oil change.

When I worked for GM we used a chemical GM specific to clean coolant systems. We actually had a tsb for specific models mostly s series truck's. Drain the coolant and flush with water add chemical and let it idol for 4 hours. When done flush and fill with coolant. The gunk was eliminated looked brand new inside the radiator and the heat cranked afterwards.
