I'm somebody who is into potential for paradoxes and metaphor. As my marriage collapsed in tension and lack of affection or emotional closeness, I listened to this song a lot. I wasn't seeing or messing with any other women But to me this song isn't necessarily about cheating. To me this song is quite possibly about wishing for a deepest that you never found or a love that you thought that might be a deepest love that you thought you found and put your all into but turned out not to be able to be. Del Amitri's work, which should be SO much more well known and appreciated, is, to me, full of potential metaphor and paradox Like best literature, Del Amitri's work has one set of things obvious at the top level and SO MANY things

I'm revving up to start an internet radio station that will feature this and a ton of other pop bands that never got the recognition they deserved and some who did (XTC, Beatles, Squeeze etc.) Band suggestions welcome! Jellyfish is already on the list 😊😮

This song randomly popped in my head a few months ago after not hearing it for a good 20 years at least, and all I had to go on in my search for it was some misremembered lyrics. And lo and behold just last weekend by total luck I found it on Spotify. This really should've been a bigger hit than it was stateside. Also, I know they're from Scotland, but is it just me or does this song have some west coast vibes?

This is a song other bands could launch a career from but for the Dels it was a b-side. Always deserved far more recognition and success than they got.

1:22 is what i remembered for so long, but not the lyrics. Only the melody. I finally decided to use google's song search where you can hum the tune, and here I am.

I learned of this song from hearing it played in a few truck stops every now & then, being a professional driver. I wasn't sure who the group was doing the singing but I thought they sounded like a pop group from the 80's/90's by name of The Smithereens. I finally got internet & I discovered the seemingly limitless things I could explore so I typed in the group I thought it might be & the possible title & Del Amitri & the song title popped up & I listened to it & it turned out 2 be the song I had heard. What a song. Very unknown & underr8ed. I never was much 4 watching sports but I'm quite the music enthusiast. 😌
