I just made something similar. I thought I made a mistake when recipe said boil 1 c water and 1 c sugar until sugar is disolved. I poured in 8x11 but it was so much water I thought it was wrong, so I boiled and stirred until it reduced and became thicker. I poured it around the roll and it got crackly as it hit the cinnamon and butter from the rolls. Baked it and the sugar water became like a thick sugar candy between and under the rolls. It still tasted great. I'll try again and pour it in without cooking it down. My recipe called for shredded apples. It was messy and juicy. I was thinking of draining it as much as possible before sprinkling over butter on the dough. Then I would substitute the juice for the water adding water to equal 1 cup if needed. Mine made 7 rolls. This recipe looks delicious as well. I just might try this one first. 😊

I'm going to make these because I'm a notorious carobaholic! I'll use whole wheat pastry flour. Glad you warned me about the meat and organ recipes-- I was looking for the book and it costs a fortune, and I wouldn't want to buy it with a lot of animal products!

One of the best memories with my mother, she would take me out to lunch once a month. Horn of the moon had this grilled cheese, tomato and bean sprouts sandwich on the most amazing nutsy earthy homemade bread. Just sitting here a little teary eyed. Loved this place! 💖😉😍💕

My frugal, late parents would be glad if someone benefited from their discarded grave decorations. I encountered death for the first time at age three. Many of my loved ones have passed over the years. And I've been am end of life care giver three times. Death is a normal part of life. The person is being birthed into the hereafter. I'd have no problem recycling funeral home discards if I needed that option.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I grew up going to Elkmont and staying in a cabin in the summers as a child. Our last summer there was 1992 I believe. I haven’t been back in a long time, makes me sad our cabin is no longer there. Lots of great memories made in that magical place!!

I am a tea drinker. I have never thought of painting on the teabag. Loved your calm way of teaching us how to do it. I am not an artist either but I am going to try and do some simple art on a teabag and see how I do. Thanks for showing us simply how it can be done. Yours are so pretty.

Loved the restaurant in the downtown Detroit store! I was just a kid in the 1960s, and such a treat to go there after shopping with Mom. There has never been or ever will be such a magical store, especially at Christmastime.

Hey this has been so helpful; I’ve been eyeing this cookbook awhile as a big fairytale fan, but the ads on google only show like a few desserts and didn’t make it apparent how well it sticks to the tales and the theme. So thank you!! I now plan to get the book! And love your kitchen lol it’s clear your heart is there

I love watching videos that explore Elkmont/Daisytown. This is by far the best walk through I have seen. Loved when you showed the comparisons to then and now. They've done a lot of work to save these cabins! And, thank you so much for sharing!

They might have used that bread as a thickener in lieu of making a roux. The extra salt could probably help season what you are cooking.

I'm friends with a woman who was born in England during the war. She said her mother said the bread was quite salty, but salt is a preservative and allowed the bread to last longer. Obviously, I don't know.
