This cabinet reminds me of an old metal Dewey Decimal System card cabinet in my shop that must have been taken from a library way over 50 years ago. It is probably the single most useful tool in my shop. I've had it for over 45 years, a gift from a friend of mine who had it in his hardware store holding miscellaneous plumbing bits. Now most of the drawers have stacking bins in them. Many of the drawers, for example, have bins with fasteners, each drawer with a unique size. One drawer has 1/4-20 bolts with individual bins for bolts, plain nuts, lock nuts, plain washers, and lock nuts. You can pull out an individual bin for a job and never have to sort through an old coffee can for the item you need. You can't imagine how handy a cabinet like this is until you have one, regardless of what you do in your shop.

@@jjhpor absolutely, I’ve installed it in my office on the wall and started to fill the drawer with watch parts, bands, movements etc… it will help organize my work area and workflow. So happy with it.. I might have to make one for my shop now 😅

This is a nice video. I see that you have great respect for the material you work with. I want to do my own old Steinway upright and find it usefull to see that you take your time! It’s recorded that Chopin brought a new Pleyel to England and never unpacked it because he found the Broadwoods very good!

I’m trying to restore crown to an 1885 Sohmer upright. I’m very interested in asking a few questions if you have an email or some other way of contacting you. I’m curious about how much time you have to work on the shims after drying out the soundboard. Did you place your dowel directly on the soundboard under the bridge or on a rib? How many mm’s total height were you able to raise the bridge?

Tommy, how do you prevent the light bulb from breaking due to the intense heat? I read that some luthiers have built similar type bending irons but the bulb keeps breaking?
@HovingtonInstruments
@HovingtonInstruments 6 ай бұрын
I never had any issues with my light bulbs. They last years before I have to replace them.. maybe better quality light bulbs..?🤷‍♂️ I’m not too sure. I never have to run it to the maximum intensity though .. that could be a reason
