I know I'm, like, 6 years too late on this, but wow! This screenplay is beautiful. It's a trifecta of interests. it's a perfect example of how not to write an effective screenplay, since it never really communicates what things look like or how it is going to communicate the information it contains. It just sorta tells you what characters think and feel, and what things are, without stopping to consider that it's supposed to convey that information in a visual medium. It's a great example of how not to adapt something, especially something beloved, subtle, and highly thematic, since it grabs one or two subthemes of the original work but entirely fails to convey the main themes of morality, means vs ends, and callous cycles of violence. And of course, it's a great example of how _not_ to take real world inspiration, how _not_ to world build, and how _not_ to respectfully depict other cultures. This is a wonderful dumpster fire.

Too much contrast, crushing details in blacks in Black and Chrome version. Don't like oversaturated colors of the original either. Desaturated version lacks contrast. *Solution:* Desaturate and increase contrast yourself in the video player.

Which this is all connected loosely to as well! This script sounds terrible though. So glad it wasn’t made. Though I hope we get a film made one day? Either as a film or a series?! The funny thing is apparently God Hand was so cheap to make that it was actually profitable for Clover, and what actually killed them was Okami. Not to say that game is bad, I haven’t played it but I hear great things, but I find it funny that the notion of “God Hand failed and killed Clover” is actually false. It really is too good of a game.

As an added detail to the origin of the name of Nuzlocke. There’s a moment in Lost in which a character speaking to Locke refers to him as “evolving” which may have triggered the association between Locke looking like a Pokemon.

I used the greyscale feature on my phone to see if there was really any difference between the colored movie simply presented in Black and White, and then the actual released Black and Chrome edition. I was surprised that there was actually a difference. Grading, texture, visual noise, saturation, bloom, black levels, they’re all adjusted. I’d love to pinpoint the exact settings my 4K OLED TV can put out to replicate the Black and Chrome version, so that I can try watching “Black and Chrome” versions of other movies. (I recommend trying Aliens)
