Somehow, I can't see a player like Romario subjecting himself to a training drill such as this one! So, if he didn't...Where do all the great players come from? What do they do that is different than what the rest of the players do, if there is something?

Woah this is legit. I have very closely analysed Dembele, Messi, Bernardo, Sadio and few other shifty ball retention players. And this is the same the pattern I came up with. Atleast a version of it. If you can practice and get it to on your muscle memory, you'll be a nightmare for the opponents. And unlike step over and other flashy skills you don't have to worry about messing it up. You literally cannot. Even mistouch would look intentional and you can easily recover.

In Korea, is it true that all academies, even in the summer, never run all day because school work is more important to the parents (and to the kids too)?
@thelbperformance1
@thelbperformance1 2 күн бұрын
Actually used to be quite the opposite. Athletes never had to study and they’d live with their team even at like age 8+. That was the culture. This was due to the sports being housed under schools. So if you were to play for the best teams you’d move to different schools in different cities. I went to 6 different elementary schools for this reason. Never had to study haha. Even after graduating high school athletes would get accepted to top schools for who they are as players not students. Things have changed a little bit for pre-U14 levels as it’s more club soccer than school soccers. Keep in mind they still do have strong school soccer programs despite the rises of club soccer cultures

Many Thanks Fran, I love the way you identify the technical skills, break them down and then proposing exercises to improve. I will try for sure these two dribbling rhythm moves. I already tried your Messi's splutter move and see already some results/improvements. One key thing that I also noticed 'by observing myself" is that you need to build/have specific muscle groups for specific moves (front quads, laterals quads, calves, hamstrings, abs,...) in order to be more effective with the move. My approach to football is like martial arts. You start with white belt, and then with new technics and regular practices you get progressively to higher grades ... all the way to black belt and more. Your videos help to develop a roadmap of new skills/technics to reach black belt level ... eventually. Keep doing these good videos. A few suggestions of topics for your next videos: 1) Include the main muscle groups required for a specific move. 2) Acceleration with the ball after a specific move could be a good topic.

I was recently explaining to my son that you need to be like a dancer in football! I wasn’t sure how to translate that into an exercise, so this is brilliant. For kids that don’t have this kind of natural movement I’ve found that you have to break up movements into their smallest steps, as you’ve done in the video. If you can do videos on improving acceleration then that would be helpful 👍

bro, if you are 11 how are you supposed to juggle the ball 100 times? Here in india, we dont focus on all this useless stuff, we mostly play only matches to get a better understanding of the game in actual real-life goal scoring sitiations.
@thelbperformance1
@thelbperformance1 13 күн бұрын
Truthfully, any half decent player at age 9-10 can do a 100 no problem. When I was 8 the prerequisite to attend the trial was a 100. So I had to get it done. Took me just a week of concentration to get from 10 to 100. Take a look at any high quality youth systems in Europe, S/N America, Korea & Japan. You’ll see a ton of kids aged 7-10 doing 100+ with different surfaces. Sure, you could say those are useless just to juggle but you can’t deny that it develops the ‘feel’ for the ball. Lastly, playing matches to get better understanding of the game is all fabulous but without an individual’s technical ability we can forget the tactical understanding of the game.

you know whats funny.. looking back i was much better player at 14-15 years of age than i am at 35. i thought a lot about it and its because you have more leeway of movement so to say - you're small, footwork isnt as essential cause your legs are short anyway and shots are more accurate because you dont have to control your power so individually its easy, obviously teamwork suffers but its an aspect that develops in the background as you train. as you grow older, taller, heavier things start to change a lot i think thats one of the main reasons big schools of football like the german focus on putting on muscle early on to mature your body and get used to it. in spain the focus is on the opposite - ball control, technique, agility, pace.. in bulgaria where i'm from the focus is on eating cakes and drinking beer after training hence why we've been so shit over the past decade :D even our national team players are like that just before the game agaisnt northern ireland last month they got together to drink and play poker :D :D got battered 5-0 the next day, how funny is that.. doesnt take much to be a pro just good agents if we're talking about real talent and i mean to at least be capable of making it to a top flight team in european big 5 all these minor things like touch, dribbling, shooting, juggling etc are not the main thing you in one way or another need to be making an impact, juggling 100 times has an impact only on tiktok. i'd go as far as saying putting too much emphasis on the basics will probably hamper your decisiveness, takes away your edge in a way. football is a sport so simple and basic that you dont need to be a robot to play it. my grandfather had this phrase that stuck with me for 30 years now, he used to say "football is a simple game but its not for simple people". managers nowadays try to overcomplicate this simple game and its become increasingly boring to watch gotta say, keep going back to videos of ronaldo fenomeno, kaka, zidane.. football in its purest form. those guys were good at reading spacing and moving the ball, zidane was pretty much a one trick pony with his turning skill but what passing and finishing he had, timing, accuracy.. insane, basic training doesnt teach you all that
@thelbperformance1
@thelbperformance1 13 күн бұрын
I agree football was much different 20+ years ago. You individually had to be so good back then. Now the tactical emphasis is huge and the system of plays are more important than ever. Not sure I’d agree that Zidane was a one trick pony! But presuming the professionals’ basic fundamental skills are equal, it’s about the slight edge… like I did at the beginning of the video, folding the paper just one more time. Players winning the EFL Championship in a flying manner come to the EPL and notice how much difference there is player to player. Even between them there’s a different level to it. Of course, to your point you can’t teach everything and there are things you just can’t teach. This is why football is an incredible sport. Btw, Stoichkov and Berbatov. What players. Their fundamentals were just perfect and you could visibly notice it. Fundamentals power high performance

@thelbperformance1 13 күн бұрын
@@mangomashup always always continue to work on your fundamentals. There’s always someone better than you at these fundamentals and even at tough times on the pitch if you can pass, receive, and run you’ll still be half way successful. Then obviously you know what you’re special at. Keep working on those! Fundamentals will always get you further than anything. Not all of us can be special. Look at the likes of - the James Milners, Gary Nevilles, I’d argue he was special but Roy Keanes, and etc. some old names now but they’re notable for always doing the basics right and providing 6-7/10 performance no matter what. Fundamentals will power your high performance. Do the basics perfectly 👍

@@thelbperformance1 Alright, also is juggling straight for about 3 minutes good for a person who just turned 13?
@thelbperformance1
@thelbperformance1 12 күн бұрын
@ are you asking if the technical ability to achieve that is good? Or are you asking if that is what you should be doing as a part of your training? YeS 3 minutes is decent but it can always be better. I’d say at 13, one should look to have the technical ability to juggle as long as they could until their legs give out or you need to be fed haha. So I’d say focus more on juggling with different surfaces with patterns. Check out my Juggling variation video for examples!
