Hi, my mom had her birthday party and my dad's sister was there. She smokes. For a split second I was going to follow her outside and bum a smoke. Thank goodness I did not. I did not ruin my 26 months quit. Close call and I always turn to Joel's videos to reinforce my quit.

Hi Joel. Don't feel obliged to reply, but I thought I should tell you about my latest situation. You won't remember me but I had a failed quit several years ago. I am five days into a new quit that feels completely different. Difference is attitude, something you emphasise the importance of. I am now sixty-three and I had started experiencing serious breathing difficulties. I felt something relating to a COPD like emphysema might be just over the horizon. That frightened me. In just five days off the cigarettes those breathing difficulties have gone. This reality removes any rose tinted ideas about smoking that had undermined my previous quits. Early days, but this will be different. This time I feel as though it 'has' to be. Thanks.

You have saved so many lives, prevented so many early deaths, improved the livelihood of individuals and families and prevented or curtailed symptoms of diseases . This is to name just a few of your achievements. Joel, I’m not sure how many people can say that. All those videos are still online and accessible to those who look. I share them with everyone I meet. I urge everyone to do the same. I can’t thank you enough.

the urge/need to cope with life will never end, but the actual withdrawal symptoms absolutely subside nearly completely after 6-7 days. any feeling after, is basically psychosomatic. not to diminish anyone's experience, but finding new ways to cope through sudden and intense emotions is necessary for everyone. Deep breathing, meditation, hydration, and exercise is surprisingly underrated/underutilized! You CAN take control of your life and be productive, whatever that may look like for YOU.

Hey Joel, Thanks for helping me get off nicotine. I remember about 10 years ago in high school when my mom found a pack of cigarettes in my jacket, she sent me your videos. After a decade of smoking, I finally found your channel again and have been watching it religiously. I’m at day 8 of my quit and feel so much better already. Thank you for helping me turn my life around. I hope you’re enjoying your retirement!

You perfectly described addiction to nicotine and once you understand the mechanism behind the addiction then you can take steps to address the problem. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

If someone is truly a never smoker I think they would be better off not trying to see what one puff is like. I never thought i would end up a nicotine addict in the past but experimenting on my own a long time ago was the first big mistake. Never take that first puff either!

Joel Spitzer has been and still is the best out there in my opinion. No profit motive. Others are getting rich off of quit smoking methods, and that his never been his motive. Such a rare thing in today's society. What a treasure this man is. Check out this recent interview with David Lynch about his lifelong love affair with smoking, the price he is now paying, and his advice to those who smoke. I want to quit smoking, but am frightened. Have failed before and don't want to set myself up for another failure after having gone through withdrawl. I feel trapped, sometimes willingly. I know I am playing Russian roulette and that their will be a price to pay. Part of me, the addict part, doesn't care, or doesn't really believe that will happen. If I do quit, I want this one to be the one. I have quit before, for as long as 10 years, but once I get a quit going I cave in social situations, festive occassions, which usually involve alcohol. My inhibition is diminished, and I feel expansive, like a sailor on shore leave. I become another person. My plan for now is to quit this coming week. Part of me doesn't believe I will or even can do it. But then there is the quiet voice which tells me that I can do this. people.com/david-lynch-smoking-at-age-8-now-he-needs-oxygen-copd-exclusive-8743594

Joel as someone addicted to the pouches, your historical content around smoking, and how to quit smoking are still incredibly relevant to this new wave of nicotine addiction. I've personally used them as reference material, and find a majority of the content quite relatable, since as you know, it all has to do with the same issue: nicotine addiction. So just rest easy knowing the work you have done, and the videos you have uploaded throughout the years are a very relevant resource and extremely useful. Needless to say.. you've done your job!! I respect the drive you still have for fighting nicotine addiction, but you should give yourself this time to retire and enjoy!!

I quit smoking cigarettes in mid December of 2023. I caughed up Phlem and Mucus for 3 months and then after that I only caughed up stuff once in a while. The key was drinking water and staying hydrated. 😢 I started smoking cigarettes again last June, and now I'm mad at myself, because I have to repeat the cleansing process all over again! I'm fighting with myself, because of all the Stress in my life that I have created by the friends around me who are not real friends. Real friends don't take advantage of their friendship or steal from them either! I'm trying to cope with that. I have to forgive them somehow. It's not easy for me! I'm trying to keep myself above water. Somehow I have to try to loose the Smoking habit all over again. Cutting down isn't quitting!
