@@RoweLit me too though sometimes my knee has been broken and my relationships mostly toxic, but i try and stay on the proverbial sunny side of the street. i did have a new idea for a poll, though im not sure i can distill it enough to state it briefly. My idea for a future story poll is fairly obscure i think. It has todo with the types of civilization. I think many are mostly focused on the giant engineering projects of the Kardashev scale, with its familiar Types I, II and III keyed to the scale of a civilization’s energy use. But at times you are trending your stories more toward the John Barrow scale. The measure of civilizations advancement as measured on the smaller most fundamental knowledge. which is in alignment with a great deal of our current research. John Barrow intimated that ultimately the most advanced civilization - would be massless and essentially a part of the space time continuum itself. can you make this a story around that concept? it seems that you have some elements in play already. Barrow I: The ability to manipulate objects at the same scale as the person or being involved. In other words, simple activities involving basic tools. Barrow II: The control of genetic information. Barrow III: The ability to control molecules. Barrow IV: The ability to control individual atoms. Barrow V: The manipulation of atomic nuclei.. Barrow VI: Control of elementary particles Barrow Omega (Ω): The ability to control fundamental elements of spacetime.

The range of different scenes, settings and stories all set in the same universe/timeline (more or less), ranging from the near phantasmal to the mundane and whimsical, occasionally creeps up and slaps me around the head with the realisation of the vastness of it all. Reality and fiction,so close together yet so far apart. Nice story by the way!😊

From the viewpoint of a world builder, no less, from the pen of a world builder, Mr. Rowe? :) This little gem might seem to be a round peg in the 'normal' realm's squared confines, but it is also a nest or backdrop. Maybe not or perhaps a base for something else later? I wouldn't mind a check in with the characters again, but I'm also comfortable with them continuing on the path they find underfoot.. as I hope they are yet. It is a rich world, this construct, as is our own little bits of the cosmos, if we choose it to be. Thanks for the visit !.

I"m suprised Peter F. Hamilton wasn't an influence. Ozzy walking the Silfen paths between worlds is part of the commonwealth universe stories (the Relaity Disfunction, etc.) Not the same, but Ozzy walking a path is a big coincidence!
@RoweLit2 ай бұрын
Cheers, Stingya! Influences are funny things for artists, I think. Most of them probably don't register consciously, but we're bathing in them from the time we're kids. This one, at least consciously, was more metaphorical than literal--walking the path and the fear of taking a next step forward in life, then overcoming that fear. Great stories like Hamilton's carry those themes for sure.
