Coming from a person who has survived -50° nights in northern Wisconsin without a heat source...a person is much more comfortable sleeping naked under layers of wool and polyester blankets alternated. Trust me, you will be much warmer and a hell of a lot more comfortable. Just make sure to open the blankets so they reduce in humidity from you sleeping in them. If you don't the excess persperation will freeze you the next time you sleep in them.

Like the futon idea I did something similar in a mini van and used an inflatable it worked good and I just inflated it to fit the area but having a foam futon I think is a better option

I was watching different campervan videos for several years, trying to find inspiration and interesting setups to build my own in the future. And I think this one is the best, that I’ve ever seen. Tiny van, that gives you opportunity to park like a regular car, the fact of having shower inside - comparing to outside shower builds, and all of this stuff, that you made is truly awesome. Thats an insane job dude!

Couple extra things: you can live in a van even in colder climates, even without insulation, if you invest in good sleeping bag(s). I doubled up sleeping bags and also heated up water with a small camping stove and put that in a hot water bottle that I would then put inside the sleeping bag. If you choose to use a hot water bottle, you might want to also purchase some cotton sleeping sheets that are sewn up around the edges (you can buy these cotton sleeping bag inserts at camping supply places like REI). What I liked to do was prepare the hot water bottle ahead of time, put it in the sleeping bag setup, then, you will have a nice warm bedding to get into once you are finally ready to go to sleep. You might also consider trying a meat based diet if you live in a camper. Keeping vegetables and lettuce and things like that is a frustrating overhead to deal with, so go without them. Yes. You can live actually very well without ever consuming vegetables, but it requires some discipline (consider giving up all processed foods). After a while, the concept that ‘I have to eat vegetables’ goes away and actually every meal will taste fantastic. Stick with good quality grass-fed meats (and organ meats like liver) and augment your diet with eggs, honey, dairy, and fruits. This diet is extremely healthy and requires much less refrigeration (you can get away with a much smaller refrigerator).
