It is the beginning of September 2024 as I watch this demonstration. After having spent 2023 trying to keep my gear acquisition syndrome and check by buying nothing, I am now struggling with it again. Even after having just purchased a new synthesizer this year, the ASM Hydrasynth Explorer, I have to say there are 2 things it hasn’t got that the TEO-5 does: VCOs and a per-function front panel. With all the synthesizers I have had custody of since 1997, those are two features I have yet to lay hands on in a polyphonic model.

I really like what I'm hearing. I already have the Take 5, but it does seem pretty different.

and how do you like the Take 5? Can you mimic a bit the Prophet 5?

@@Horizontedesucesos_ I'd say so. The modulation workflow is pretty different from the front-panel implementation on the P5, so you have to think about it a bit. But You can cover a lot of the same ground. The main differences are SSI vs CEM chips, and the Q compensation on the filter, which the P5 doesn't have. But for bread and butter sounds it effortlessly slides into that territory, and with a bit of fiddling you can get it to do Poly mod too. The per-voice LFO is a bit of genius - and you can use both oscillators on those sounds, which is a nice QOL update from the P5. The P5 still has my full recommendation though - it's fast and effortlessly beautiful. The T5 is a better synth for sound design.

Can the Fx be bypass to have a true analog pathway?

if its the same vca section as the t-5 , then no. the vcas are likely digital. but the most important components are analog, thats what matters. its all going into an ADC in the end anyway

Nice, but I no longer buy any synths since music production now pays practically nothing these days, long gone are the times when you could release a track and actually earn enough to cover purchase costs of synths and drum machines.

You can't really see it in video but there is a dedicated JUMP button on the right of the keyboard.

@@bangmateo7481 This things does a nice Tom Sawyer mostly because of the vintage knob, but sounds quite a bit better than the OB-X software which itself sounds pretty darn good to my ears

I wish Oberheim would change up their design, the knob choices, the look of it, the sound of it, I can't hear a single bit of difference between ANY OF THEIR SYNTHS and all of the chassis look nearly identical.They all have the same custom vco poly synth chips built in, there's literally nothing, zero reason to ever buy something else from this company if you already have one which I do, the expander. That is all. Not trying to hate on this synth, it's a classic sound, but come on, reinventing the wheel every year is kindof wack when it rolls, looks, and sounds identical to the previous wheel. #ProveMeWrong Would rather pick up a vector or wavetable synth and broaden my choice of sonic palate.

I totally get what you mean. I think the through zero FM is what's different about this synth, but it might not be different enough compared to other options.
