about oss or ossu,,,(???) I had a student who's grandmother was from Japan, she spoke and wrote the "street" Japanese and the "high" Japanese, I had a visitor to my school that was saying oss alot, she giggled several times at this, after class and the visitor had left, I ask her why she was giggling when he said that, she said that oss is a street term that means, she said the best translation is that it means, "hey dude" ,,,,I smiled as I know a famous instructor of a famous style that was born and raised in Hawaii, I have never told the black belt friend I know about this as I am sure he would take this as; an insult, he would tell me she was wrong and go into a long rant about the grandmaster of the system being above reproach,,,me I think the "oss" thing is a bunch of crap, many of the things you mentioned in the video are in that style/school,,,,it is popular across America and it just reinforces my ideas about that system,,,,the grandmother even told me that this system is spelled wrong, I remember in Okinawa watching a system that was called Okinawan keMpo,,,(hint) I am sure I will get alot of insults and threats over this, but, Im old now and challenging me would make me smile as I am far past trying to prove anything physically,,,If a person insist on challenging me I would want Rodtang or Buakaw to defend my point of view,,,,,,dang oh,,,Muy Thai fighters are the best at fighting!!!!!! AND of course here in America most schools promote to black belt in 12-18 months and everyone passes the test even if their side kick looks like a very sloppy front kick,,,,I stopped teaching because of the commercialization of martial arts in America,,,,oh yeah the term I use "high" in reference to the Japanese language is probably wrong, but it was 20 years ago, I have memory problems to defend her, she was highly educated and from an old "samurai" family, I did not doubt her or her knowledge for a moment,,,,,one last thing,,,,,the more you repeat a lie the more people will believe it

Besides from running against a single armed opponent if you can’t run bjj and judo are the best however you have to focus on the weapon that’s one thing I didn’t see in this. If you prevent them from using the weapon you can’t get stabbed.

Common misconception. Martial arts were designed for you use in a melee. Try and tell us that isn't multiple opponent.

In the fighting world the term scam can never exist if you understand to be ready at all times if you understand that this is battle that you must put your enemy down for good you can achieve many great things by always being ready and by simply going out there and just doing it and not wasting a second if you want to be the best then you just have to be just that and it's easy to tell the difference between fake and real because fake will always try to get in the stands facing one way real knows to be ready for always not just one

I have been doing shaolin kenpo karate for about 14 months and my dojo only does a few of those (but we have reasons) The owner of the dojo(master faber 5 dan black belt) has some 1 assistant sensei for the teens class( the one im in) and the reason is because master faber has artritis in is foot and he is doing surgery soon. We also do have camo belts BUT they are for some whip techniques and for people in the senpai training. But other than that my dojo doesnt do any of the other stuff.

They belong in a movie together as a team put together by the CIA to fight inter dimensional Aliens in a heroic and desperate attempt to save planet earth. No modern weapons can affect them, only the greatest of human weapons

In fairness, Dante was a legitimate black belt and a capable fighter that marketed himself well. Good vid!👍

Man, season 3 could use a straight up Wrestler. I'd enjoy seeing how the "best base" holds up on its own.

I've trained years in a non commercial dojo, with some of the athletes from the brazilian national team. Two and a half years as a green belt and three and a half years as a purple belt.

In the martial arts school that I go to there are a few black belts under 16. Mostly because they joined at 4 or smth

Dude i followed you since you moved away from aikido into bjj/MT... im sorry you suffered such a brutal injury but if I were to offer some thoughts from someone who stepped away from martial arts after the toll it took from me... consider just training in the gym. You look to have the body type that would excel in something like calisthenics... i myself shifted to the gym and discovered a new, fun way to stay healthy. I never regret my time in martial arts but your health and safety comes paramount over that. Especially when you have a family to take care of. Cheers brother and take care.

The way I see it, if John Keenan, underwent legitimate martial arts training and even earned a black belt under the old karate OG Robert Trias, as well as learning military combatives from the marines (at that time) during his military service, and then running a school and hardcore constantly testing out what he taught his students early on; all that makes him a legitimate martial artist, who perhaps tragically fell prey to his own unbalanced ego, and bad habits and choices of the company he kept much later on in his life. But perhaps his showmanship was also one of the ways he attempted to market himself back then.

Why wold you use Aikido in a wrestling match? If neither is allowed to use atemi, then you lose 90% of aikido. Now you would need to learn how to attack someone who is laying on a floor without any strikes. You can't use aikido to attack.

I've studied Wing Chun for many years. I've come to the conclusion that it has the potential to make someone into an effective fighter, but most people who practice it don't reach that potential. My teacher and his teacher could destroy teachers from other martial arts school. That's not just conjecture. I've seen it. I myself didn't reach the level where I'd be confident that I could go take on a kickboxer. But my teacher? I'd be worried for the kickboxer. And before you say "big fish small pond, yada yada yada.." I have seen them easily deal with people who studied other martial arts.
