Happy New Year🥳 I was hoping you do this challenge this year. I love your consistency & wish you great success. I had an extremely ruff 2024😢 I’ve been on & off of YT & I’m so far behind on videos as well. However, it’s a new year, I’m back & will catch up. I will definitely be doing this low spend with you & I will continue it throughout 2025.

Hi Megan, I just happened upon your channel. I am doing the pantry, fridge, freezer challenge too, starting TODAY. 😊 I’m super excited about it too. I made an inventory of all food in both of our pantry’s and kitchen freezer and garage freezer and I am AMAZED at how many meals I have been able to put together with what we have. It’s crazy. Good luck with your challenge and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My husband and I use Dave Ramsey’s free app called EveryDollar and we budget out all of our bills. What’s leftover goes into the cash envelopes categories. This is why I have a high priority binder and a low priority binder. The high priorities gets stuffed first and if there is anything left, it goes to my low priority envelopes😊

@meganross
@meganross 20 күн бұрын
The first step is to have a budget! Tell every dollar where to go. Make sure all bills are paid first and then you can start thinking of envelopes you would like to have. Some envelopes get spent every month like groceries, etc. but then you need to think about things that only happen every other month or quarterly that you would like to start saving up for to be prepared. Those are called sinking funds and they make such a huge difference in your budget and staying on track!

Hi, new here 😊 growing up we didn’t have much food although there was a means to buy food, my father just didn’t work or provide and he was abusive and we rarely ate. He kept all of the government assistance money to himself. When my mother escaped from him, we had 3 meals and a snack or desert. when I lost my mom at 14, I always had this mindset about food shortage and preparing for life’s events. With him, it was one meal a day and it was the same thing everyday, hamburgers and he thought we were eating breakfast and lunch in school like we did when we were kids but we weren’t kids anymore more, we were teenagers. I got a job in high school, the youngest, to buy things my mother bought. But minimum wage was $5.15 at the time. He left all the responsibility on me to care for my siblings since I’m female. My peers didn’t think that or romantic partners. They actually saw my home as a convenience store, they thought the more I had, they could just eat it up, because they didn’t cook or their mother or father didn’t teach them certain things. I store food for the very exact reasons. I’ve severed ties with these people years ago because I would never go to someone’s home and eat up their food and not replenish it. That’s money down the drain because when I fell on hard times, no one bought me food.
@meganross
@meganross 25 күн бұрын
I’m so sorry you had to go through that growing up🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing that with me. It’s doesn’t matter the reason, it’s always a good idea to have some food storage. I feel bad for people who think they will never need it so they do nothing to be prepared. We can’t predict what’s going to happen to us so I would rather be prepared than be caught with nothing.
@Spaceandgrace-z7p

@@meganross You’re welcome! Thanks for reading! 😊🙏🏽 Exactly, it’s always good to be prepared. I’ve always been the prepared one because I know how it is to be without or not like the hassle of going to the store all the time. The anxiety I get with crowded stores🥴😁. Delivery is fine sometimes like with instacart but I’d rather go myself when I can because they jack up the price on these apps.

I love your videos! I know you use a zero based budget but how do you decide how much to put in each envelope and what envelopes to skip etc. I struggle with that and would love your input
@meganross
@meganross 29 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! Sometimes my husband and I decide together but we always talk about it even if we don’t plan it out together. We use Dave Ramsey’s app EveryDollar and we’ve always used the free version. It works perfectly for us. I look ahead to the month and see what we have going on, how much time we have to save up for something, etc. and that really helps me with knowing how to prioritize which envelope gets stuffed and which gets skipped. That’s part of the reason I have a high priority binder and low priority binder. Everything in the high priority gets stuffed first and if there’s any money leftover, then I can work on the low priority binder. All the cash I stuff is what’s left over after all our bills are paid and necessities are taken care of. I hope that helps!💙
