Thank you for the useful videos and especially seeing the different horses!! I wish to ask please, before doing those exercises, are you warming up (at walk)? Or you start straight away? Thank you very much!!

Bitless makes a horse a better partner, no tugging on the mouth, i don't care what anyone says..that is extremely hurtful...and those that choose to keep riding with bits...it is because you the human have not taken the time to learn to teach your self total balance while riding..and learning body language...it takes time to teach yourself these new ways...ask anyone who rides without a bit or better yet no bridle what so ever..the horse makes such a better partner...
@trollspeilet

Our mission is to teach people how to ride softly and in contact both with a bit or without. There are things you cannot do bitless, but it takes time to learn. We like to explore all aspects of riding in a respectful way.

Another great stream, thank you 😊 I have noticed my body stays more relaxed when I keep reins in one hand during strike off. Or the strike off is easier..what this can tell of? I haven't yet figured out what changes?
@trollspeilet
@trollspeilet 5 ай бұрын
If you ride with the reins in one hand, the contact often becomes softer, and the horse may relax more because of that. It depends on many things, but this is most often the cause. Thanks for the nice words!

Hi, could you please touch a theme about passade, school walk and school trot. Benefits? Faults?
@trollspeilet
@trollspeilet 5 ай бұрын
Hi! We do passades, and promise to touch on that in future streams. However, we do not train school walk and school trot because we find that they disturb the diagonal rhythms that we try to encourage in the horse. We have nothing against other people training this, but we find it disturbing to our own goals and objectives. We hope you understand. :)

You do an amazing job helping your viewers see and diagnose tension and weaknesses in various areas of the horse. Have you ever shown videos that show/diagnose tension or weakness in a horse and then show the excercises that can be used on the ground and in the saddle to help improve both strength and flexibility to improve the tensions and weaknesses that are seen throughout the horse.
@trollspeilet

Hi! Thank you for your kind words. What you ask here is what we try to do. However, it is impossible to cover every exercise you may use for solving a problem in one stream. We are counting on you viewers to puzzle together what we show with your own knowledge and experience, and your feeling and compassion with the horse, to create your own solutions to the unique problems and challenges you have with a horse. We hope to be of use over time. :)

I have a horse with the same issue - he doesn’t try to bend the knees but using front part or going forward instead of up. Am I understood correctly that you use shoulder in on a circle and “therapeutic” piaffe to help the horse on the video to bend the knees?
@trollspeilet
@trollspeilet 5 ай бұрын
Yes, those exercises can be used to solve a problem like that. There are also many other ways to encourage the horse to move his weight more to the hind legs, and we try to cover them in different streams. We hope you will find others of our videos that will cover other methods too. :)

I really like this video. You really need to watch this video and pay attention for the slight changes in this horse. What these two people say is important and the horse's reaction over time is interesting and great. My 16 year old horse has kissing spine and i started doing the exercises on the ", swayback icelandic" video. This was a game changer. I was able to ride her for 20 minutes without her being in pain. Thank you for sharing.

Wouldn't it be better to teach the horse to do the piaffe more rhythmically and confidently first? He doesn't seem to be enjoying the levade much.
@trollspeilet
@trollspeilet 7 ай бұрын
We are working on the piaffe. He prefers the levade/pesade/rearing, and plays with me or even alone with those exercises a lot. The piaffe is much more difficult for him, and I guess what you´re seeing is his struggle with lifting enough through the thoracic spine, or behind the withers, if you will.

Are you familiar at all with the Schultheis saddle? It's the most close contact saddle, designed for maximum freedom and weight riding, in the old style. Also called a Stubborn Tristan Special. I use these saddles almost every day, as a professional trainer, and they fit almost every horse, a huge variety of horses. It's probably the most important tool I use.

Thank you for great livestream! I have a question about foaming. What if there's foam only on other side? Is it because of crookedness? Could it be both from horse's and rider's crookedness?
@trollspeilet
@trollspeilet 7 ай бұрын
Glad you liked it! Yes we often see foaming on just one side too, and we find that it is because the horse does not yet move entirely straight from the hindlegs and troung the body.

Good video. Most of this stuff is still beyond me but I think that I saw the last rider get the withers to rise for a few strides in trot? The woman looks really strong and well balanced but it looks like she has to work hard to keep her horse balanced? Though she is more skilled than I am, I feel like my horse and I have a similar problem except I am not able to get out of my horses way. These videos are really helping my to understand what is going wrong with my horse and I.

There are some suggestions in this video, and in many of our other videos. Improving the gaits is a complex task, impossible to cover in a comment. We would like to recommend watching several videos, where we try to cover many different sides of improving both techniques and communication with the horse.

Stiff in the neck and movement, it is also cold and the horse just takes a long time to warm up in colder temps. if the muscle is tight, its because if the cold, he just needs more time. He is also very foot cautious, he doesn't wait to slip.. he is a very nice horse
@trollspeilet

Thank you for this. We are used to the cold and the winter, and our horses have very good winter coats. The stiffness is caused by earlier trauma, and is the same in the summer warmth.
