would a dog barking at some one coming in the house-the sound of garage opening be releasing stimuli?

Excellent question and yes it could be particularly if your dog has any "guardian" in them.

I adopted my dog 2 months ago. She had been found 2 months prior with her neck slit. She is estimated to be about 2 yo. She is extremely aggressive/reactive towards men and other dogs. With women and children, she's fine. She also seems to have never learned bite inhabitation and will suddenly jump/launch herself at you and start nipping and biting on hands and arms. It happens a couple times a day. Putting toys into her mouth to distract her sometimes works for a couple minutes. I need figure out how to break this cycle before she really hurts someone.

Linda, this sounds like an intense situation. Her behavior sounds like anxiety, which can turn into aggression. Take a look at this KZbin video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoGZnZWFfryEfqssi=KI-Utr1sE89e8bh2 Clearly the poor dog has suffered a GREAT deal of TRAUMA. She is going to need to feel safe. She needs PPP, predictable patterns that create precedent, that way she'll know what comes next. Watch her and see if you can begin to notice her behavior BEFORE she launches at you. Leave a drag line on her. When you see her starting to get on the Escalator (watch the video) speak to her gently and find a place to time her out so she has the opportunity to calm herself. When you give her a toy after she starts biting you, you risk reinforcing the biting behavior. The dog thinks: "I bite and get a toy, cool." i am taking care of a dog, young about a year old...my dogs are all calm and get along pretty good no aggression however, when the new girl came trouble started. She is aggressive territorial behavior... She respects me because i am the alpha...as the other dogs but she want to take the second best place...several times she attack my other dogs, and i am working with her.. Immediately i see her body language i give the sound to stop and she moves away, two times she does that and in seconds she goes back and attack her half brother or my other rescue dog. work in progress, some other issues but she is a sweet heart...

Bringing in a new dog to any group can cause problems. Leave a leash on her in the house. When you see her "step on the escalator" casually pick up the leash and bring her to a time-out location. You need to be the CEO, the upper management and give her (and her brain) the necessary feedback regarding what behaviors work and which ones do not. Any form of pre-aggression will not "work" for her. Good luck.

@@EverythingDog i really appreciate ur feedback...the dog is just a year old so need a lot of structure...i am the alpha and the other dogs know that but she is new and she must learn her place inside the pack..leash won't work...6 dogs in a room is not an easy task to get up and grab the leash..specially if an episode just happen. What is working is me keeping an eye and as soon as i see her changing her body language (no tail so it is harder to spot reacting) i correct with sound and comand to go and lay down in another spot of the room...ahhh kids never stop getting into trouble right?

I had a dog die from plastic bottles particles building up in his intestines, they can't digest plastic and the vet said never to give dogs plastic bottles, cute ideal but no thx

Betty, how horrible. Im so sorry to hear this. We encourage everyone to know their dog AND to supervise their dog. Some dogs are super chewers and bottles wouldn't be appropriate. Young puppies can have a lot of inexpensive fun with a plastic bottle as long as they are supervised. Thanks for watching and Im sorry for your loss.

Don’t give your dog peanut butter. Full of additives. Too much fat (usually palm oil) which is toxic for dogs. It’s why pancreatitis in domesticated animals is on the rise. Extremely painful horrible condition.

we encourage everyone to read lables and know what their dog can handle. There are specific doggie "Peanutbutter" and many other choices besides peanutbutter. We tend to use organic products AND we always read the labels. Thanks for watching.

I took my puppy to puppy class as soon as was possible to try and socialise her with other puppies. It was a total failure. I was told not to comfort her when she is scared and that bothers me. I was told that comforting my pup when scares teaches them bad behaviour
@EverythingDog
@EverythingDog 8 күн бұрын
OMG get out of that class. That is a terrible thing to say to you. We comfort crying, scared toddlers don't we? And they learn by being comforted that they are love, honored and CARED for and someone understands. Your puppy needs your support, and comfort. Dogs are like Toddlers! If you treat her like you would a child, you'll be great.

My 4 month jack russel is a singleton hand reared pup. She is absolutely terrified of any dog that is not already part of the family and at puppy class with 2 other very gentle goldens she growls and lunges at them whenever they came over to say hello. Barking dogs terrify her as well and she starts shaking and tries to hide. Im concerned about this getting worse
@EverythingDog
@EverythingDog 8 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for the question. Your #1 goal is to protect your puppy from dogs and anything else that scares her. That doesn't mean to keep her locked away, but it does mean to support her. In puppy class she should be behind an Exercise pen with you so the other dogs have to stay 7-10 feet away from her. Dogs have a personal space bubble of 7-10 feet. Honor that and she'll begin to trust you and the world. If you want to talk here are some options: There are 3 options. A Free 20 Minute Discovery call: everythingdog.as.me/20minutediscoverycall A 50 min Virtual Ask Me Anything: everythingdog.as.me/AskMeAnything Or we can dive deeper with an Initial behavioral Consultation: everythingdog.as.me/VirtualBehavioralConsultation Looking forward to hearing from you.
