@OmegaChase1002 Yes and no. Zuulneruda and Kaluuz are very similar, both geistlords, and Kaluuz is distinctly the more powerful, but they do actually fight differently. Zuulneruda is generally easier to read and uses fewer projectiles while Kaluuz uses upgraded versions of Zuul's attacks with more projectiles in more directions as well as generally being more aggressive

Take into consideration that Little Planet returns annually. Metal Sonic got stuck on Little Planet in CD, then he fights Sonic again in Mania but is still stuck on it and finally in Sonic 4, he escapes back to Earth and is beaten by Sonic yet again on Death Egg Mark 2 (Which trapped Little Planet inside it), ending with him and Eggman still on the exploding thing and maybe they do stuff in Episode 3.

My final explanation is that Eggman created a replica of Metal in his place while the original was stuck on Little Planet until the events of Sonic 4.
