I was able to use a 7/8" box end wrench to remove the threaded oil cooler thru-pipe. It fit between the sway bar and the frame and made a perfect, snug fit on the outer nut.

Just btw i understand that for torque wrench to accurate you have to hold it correctly holding too close to the socket will result in inaccurate torque based on on the leverage.

Just installed one today on my 2023 Frontier. Looks so goofy, cheaply made but expensive. It is shaped for the wheel arch in the bed, but the arch is loke 10 inches away 🤦. They could have made it way bigger

the sensor was pretty stuck in the connector on mine. the retaining clip was easy to press/click but sensor wouldn't budge. solution that worked for me was to bolt the sensor back in, and pry the connector off with flathead screwdriver (while clip was pressed down, obviously). That way I didn't have to hold the sensor while prying and it popped off fairly easily. thx for the video

Nice video, I replaced both camshaft sensors and crankshaft sensor too, all of this on a 2008 Nissan Frontier with 180000 miles. You will struggle with this camshaft position sensor unless you do it like Dave shows in the video.

@DaveBuildsIt

That is not normal at all. I've never timed it, but I typically was able to trim, edge, and blow off concrete surfaces for 1/3 - 1/2 acre lots in 2-3 of 4 bars.

Ha! Well it’s all good but I dropped the screw at bank 1 pass side. I have another screw. Might leave the fallen one right where it landed. May use a magnet. Man you gotta get in there deep to have any chance. Nissan engineers thank you so much for zero room for anything. That took some thought. Thank you again.

how many miles did your vehicle have before noticing the leak and changing the o-ring? Was it anywhere around 100K?
@DaveBuildsIt
@DaveBuildsIt Жыл бұрын
Around 115k - 120k. The oil cooler stud was also loose so that probably played a bigger factor in the leak than the oil cooler gasket but you can tell in the video that the gasket definitely needed to be replaced.

Well, it has been three years now. My concern is did it hold up since it only had the floor flange holding the rack. Did it give any problems? Did it remain steady with the weight of the clothing? BTW new subscriber here.

Good video. A couple of things I'd like to offer. 1. My Xterra had this leak and I did not remove the cooler assembly. I simply re-torqued the nut to 40 ft-lbs and the leak stopped. Not sure how long this will last but I've gone about 5000 additional miles with no re-emergence of the leak. 2. CAUTION: when you go to remove or re-torque the stud nut, be absolutely sure you are square on the nut and not cocked. If the socket inside wall contacts the threads and damages them, you will need to repair or replace the stud. Use a universal socket extension if you have one, to keep the socket squarely aligned to the stud nut. This thread damage happened to me, but I was lucky enough to notice and "feel" the oil filter spin-on resisting the stud threads and backed it off immediately. I was able to use a small triangular file to repair the damaged thread area on the stud and then used the oil filter threads as a sort of die cutter to slowly thread it on until I felt resistance, and back it off a full turn, then thread it on a little more, back it off, and do this several times until the filter threaded on easily. Be patient if you are in this situation. DO NOT force the filter on to the cooler housing stud or you'll strip the threads and be in for a world of hurt. A new stud is expensive!
