nice edit, a few questions, how many different people in byron is doing this downwind prone run? is it like just a couple dozen or are there hundreds now? how do you get from the end of the pass to wategoes, do you uber it or is it like a long 40 min walk, i'm worried your legs would get tired so much walking. from 2:00 onwards, is that when its small at wategoes and you cant go all the way thru the pass?
@camjrdn63184 күн бұрын
Hey mate, there is maybe a group of ~15 locals who can do the full cape byron to main beach bay run. Note this isnt a 'dw bay run', but just a run we do when the swell is big (different to dw bay runs). You're almost always alone on one of these bay runs though because you quickly lose the people you paddle out with when the swell is big due to currents etc. Yep from 2 min is a small day and would be a struggle but doable to get to the pass (depending on how good your pump fitness is).

@@apricotscrub yeah that video of Duke was at Wategos. There are lots of sharks here certain times of the year and several people have hit them, but they are small and harmless. There are big ones out there though but we try not to think of them too much

Always great tunes and vibes on your content. Nice style and oh I just seen Mr Bennetts orange hat 😅 you guys are trail blazing. Looking at your foil you seem to have a very small stab ? How does stab width effect your pumping? And no that's not supposed to sound sexy 😂
@camjrdn63186 ай бұрын
haha yeah good session with Bennetts at this spot over a few day run of good tide, wind and swell.The Stab is probably a mid size stab by current standards (kd foils 13R (~160cm2)). The stab size and span has many effects on pumping. Big or wide stabs are generally more forgiving, but the small stab will be more efficient and go faster but will require better technique. The lower the span the better the turns but more twitchy and usually require long fuse. The sweet spot is the low area stabs with wide span IMO
