Love your smile sign - you channel always makes me smile and the world would be a better place if more people adopted that trait! I hope your 2025 is outstanding. You are the perfect person to be the curator and steward of these awesome pickups. Your appreciation for the finer things in the guitar world is always evident and that’s important when you have historic items. I would probably put them in a 70’s era strat that’s player’s grade. I always like “sleeper” hot rod cars (VW beetle with a V8 haha). But I also might actually keep a set in the case to enjoy just like you have so far. I know some people might say that’s a shame, but I have guitars that I love and don’t play - they are just beautiful artwork to me and I’m OK with that. All the very best to you!!

Fender is a mess internally - especially the Custom Shop. Huge revolving door. There’s zero prestige anymore.

Well since I like everything on an American Ultra Strat except the noiseless pickups, I would put them in one of those. The Ultra Strat seems to be a nice middle of the road guitar for those P-ups, it’s a nice guitar without the custom shop price.

Nice to see you more often Ash! I'd vote for these pickups to be installed and played since they're technically not museum/storied pieces; a used American Professional II Strat is ~$1K and would give you the modern all-American setup, with the possibility of a ~$2K+ resell down the road if you'd like to fund some more expensive buys. The underwound high-headroom stuff is more about gentle edge-of-breakup tones, which might not be the best fit with the rock-heavy repertoire you usually display here, but could do a lot playing jazz/soft prog through your Jazz Chorus if that's a direction you want to explore. Keep the updates coming! 🤘🎸

Hey Ashley! Very cool pickups. I look forward to hearing them in action. I would definitely, 100% say that they should be used. They're a tool, and you shouldn't just leave a tool on the wall to look at. As far as what to put them in, perhaps something like an Am Pro II or an AVII, depending on your opinions on their respective neck carves. They'd both be very nice guitars on their own that would allow the pickups to blossom. Just my $0.02.

Hi.. hello. Wow this is really great, its a very very great feeling to have something that is made with your soul, like a Guitar or maybe a set of pickups because as soon as you have it in your hands you can feel the energy, its like the product it self has a soul. It's a great feeling. When I was a kid back in the mid 80´s I got this remote controlled car scale 1:10 and it was kinda like a beach buggy thing. I got it for Christmas and I opened the box and instantly I got that feeling of a high quality product and the smell was fantastic. I played with it during the evening and when it was bed time I had the car next to me in my bed and I was very careful and the next morning I put it down on the floor when still in bed and drove it around. I loved that RC car so much. Now back to this pickup set, it's the same feeling, handling the pickups like a little baby and knowing this was made by some very special people. I would put this set in a guitar that means something to me, but still a high quality guitar. Or maybe buy a guitar that fits for this pickups, like a Stratocaster American Standard or something similar. Fender Stratocaster Deluxe would also be a great choice... thanks for the video.. :D

I would like to get a set of pickups wound by a master, just so I can have a set that has legacy. Something I can point to say say "This person made this for me". I only have one Fender now, so I'm looking at getting a set wound by MJ at the Seymour Duncan for one of my Gibsons.

hello Ashley, that is an amazing and historical set of pickups , ya know if i owned them i don't think i would even put them in a guitar . I know it would be nice to hear them .but they are kinda like a historical set of pickups especially with the signature , . I would just keep them in the collectors box . I love your channel ,

Thanks for another always upbeat video! I almost pulled the trigger on a Jackson after I saw yours. The only reason I didnt is I had a few guitars and a piano on the way. One guitar needed a lot of work and one just needed a pickup mount fixed. I will probably have the both sorted out today (I enjoy doing that stuff). All the best and I hope you have a fantastic 2025!!

Nice pickups this year. I could never sell the Tom Delonge strat, but thats me. I almost got the graffiti yellow one this year and Paranormal Telecaster offset, regret not getting those both. 100% getting them next year. This year I picked up a Squire P-Bass, Fender JagStang and the Hello Kitty Fuzz Pedal and picks.

when you buy and sell guitars, after awhile you are going to regret selling a few . So really think about what you are selling and ask yourself, are you going to want to buy this same guitar again in a few years ? Some guitars never go out of style, they are classics that you should have in a collection . the most desirable guitars are Gibson and Fender usa. If you sell those , they are going to be very hard to replace because of the cost. Happy New Years Ashley ! I enjoy your channel a lot. denny

Thanks, Denny and Happy New Year to you! I know exactly what you mean. The one that hurts the most, I sold around 2016 and it's very hard to replace. I look for it online nearly daily.. One day she will come back to me, or maybe one close in serial number. That one taught me to REALLY think about what I'm doing when selling.

Enjoy your videos very much, you certainly know guitars. I must say there has never been a guitar I HATED more than the Fender Cyclone. I'm a Fender fella through and through, played a Strat for 20 years, and find something to love in most every Fender (except for the other hated Fender - the Lake Placid Kurt Mustang). Loving surf guitar so much I was thrilled when my ex- moved in with this rarity from HER ex-. I tried hard to like it. I thought it was just me playing it poorly, tried every combo of settings, strings, raising and lowering, different amps. The Fender Cyclone was instant irritability in 15 minutes. Everyone else loved it, were always trying to buy it off my ex. UGH. Every setting was evil and awful. When we split, she packed her shit and came in to trade me the Cyclone for one of my paintings she liked. They were already selling for $1k or whatever, the paintings and the Cyclone both. I said NO, gave her the painting and told her to take her Cyclone and make someone else unhappy with it! :D

Haha!! Love this story. The most annoying thing to me is the position of the pickups.. somehow my hand or pick always hits them when strumming.

I've owned this guitar at 2 different times. I've bought it again for the 3rd time today. It was an incredible guitar and easy to play with it's 12"-16" radius. Also, the price point is insane. It's one of the nicest guitars I've ever owned and it was 1/4 of the cost of others I've owned that were way more in price that didn't play as nice.

Great Video! I love the passion that you clearly have for guitars and for the small stuff, like the sticker. I own the 61 USA Maestro version which I love. I have been thinking about upgrading to one like yours so this video has been very helpful to me. The neck on the 61 is very thin and because of that I have to make truss rod tweaks quite often. I also own a non Maestro 61 USA and the one with the Maestro is much easier for me to play because the added weight of the Maestro...not as much neck dive. I can also struggle playing in front of others. I do play live on Sunday mornings but I have to be very prepared, maybe over prepared. I encourage you to continue to have fun playing. Whether it is just for you or you share it with others. It will bring you so much joy as you go through life. Especially through difficult times.

yes its whats called shreader but, it plays all genres, more easily to me, its also called a fast neck, check your action, mine is at 1.2 to 1.5 mm, if thats a strat style 2 or 6 point tremolo, you know you cant use that tremolo until its set up in the style you want, floating or decked, as is something can break trying to use as is, have to loosen the screws so it can pivot, can balance the back of the trem either floating in the air about 1/8 inch off the deck or deck it meaning flat, or block it meaning a wood block wedge in the spring area. Utube vids on it. Have to balance tension between strings and the springs. Put on a locking nut, a string positioner at nut, maybe a wilkenson trem drop in, maybe gotoh locking tuners, and depends on what your playing if you want different pickups. Then its a 1500 dollar guitar or much more, for 100 dollars in parts, the bones are good, meaning you will have a hard time finding a better neck and body for this style, even at thousands of dollars, its not the price, to me and checking, that price range has best body and neck on most brands, after that its the extras, diy saves money, right now if thats a strat style tremolo its working like a hardtail style. You can change tuning easily the way the trem is set now, pretty easily if change to a wilkenson drop in, now the j32 if I remember has a floyd rose tremolo, whole different story, usually dont change tunings on that due to it takes to long, so would have more that one guitar ready to go. Or a very fast guitar tech stage side.

Hello Ashley: if you really want to purchase an amazing guitar look and read the reviews on the squire J. Mascis Jazzmaster. Every review is a ten so I bought one. Recently purchased a mint 1966 Fender Jazzmaster for over 12 grand. This guitar is just as good at huge fraction of the price.

I have the same guitar. Had the same issues with the finish you did. Bought it brand new and got it home and was like why does the finish look so cloudy and like there is scratches all over it. The scratches weren't in the guitar itself just seem to be in that hazy vos junk they put on or like they waxed it and didn't buff it off good enough. I polished the guitar with the vintage Gibson cleaning kit and all scratches gone and looked so much better. I also took the metal polish from the kit to all the metal bits and they look so much better as well. If you leave the vos junk on the metal it will continue to age a lot faster then a real 64 would have so I personally wanted that stuff off. Love the guitar now. How much does yours weigh? Mine is 7.6lbs.

Hi from the UK 🖐 I bought my white j22 dinky about 4 months ago and love it (That Jackson headstock and logo is a work of art). I took up the Guitar 4yrs ago at 53yrs of age, I would practice get frustrated , put it down, watch guitar vids on YT , buy another guitar, practice on it enjoy it, put it down, buy another practice on it etc,etc..I now have 14 electric guitars and have got better at playing..the frustration went away about a year ago after i learned all the pentatonic scales. Best thing i ever done, i just love jamming over backing tracks on my spark amps, will i ever be a fantastic guitar player, NO!, i will just continue to Jam, constantly learning as i go and now really enjoy the fun time i spend with a guitar in my hands. loving your enthusiastic approach to your guitar journey, your love for them and really enjoyed your vid...new sub for you 😁
