I always look for horizontal lines in the woods. Most things that are naturally in the woods are verticle. You're looking for backs and bellies. Also looking for heads/faces and ears. When elk hunting I'm looking for that plus elk butts. Their butts are very distinctive.

Been watching since I was 12. To this day being from central PA, I wish I could hunt with you! I just want to learn!! haha. I put in the time and hunt by myself, but man every hunter should want to have it figured out like you. I’ve learned a lot from the channel. Congrats on a huge doe! If you ever need I filmer I volunteer ✋ haha

The shot with flintlock was very impressive but the camera shot and work doing it solo is unmatched.

John really appreciate your videos. You have posted a lot more this year and i think everyone is appreciatve of that too. Your flintlock hunts inspired me to hunt with my 50 cal flinter even though we don,t have too and get a buck with it last year. Thanks

Right on John that's one tank of a doe because you're flint lock is what about 8feet long 😂 well i hope that big boy is still out there and not trying to identify himself as a doe 😉🍻

John , I was always taught you never shoot a deer in its bed . Because, it’s against Pa game commission law.

Another great hunt with John. Your muzzleloading hunts are the best on KZbin.

can't believe you would shoot a bedded animal. In hunter education we teach fair chase. that is not fair chase.

That is absolutely wild it had a lethal hit and ran uphill that aggressively. I hunt 4B and 4C. Love to see you guys harvesting.

I used to hunt Central Oregon and SE Washington Muleys and they would almost always run uphill! 😅

Fellow pa hunter, cheated this year and went late rifle. But switch to sabot. Unbelievable difference with muzzleloader, that deer wouldn't have gone 20 yds

Great job! Glad you didn't give up on the blood trail. I used a .50 cal. caplock for 30 years, always used 175 grain round balls.

You are definitely one of the best "hunters" that I've seen on youtube in a long time. Studying your land and the deer on it, where they feed, where they bed and you take into account the wind. I'm 74 years old and no longer hunt as health and family obligations take up my days at this stage of life. I do enjoy your videos and your constant emphasis on passing on your knowledge unto others. You won my subscription today.

Great hunt and a cow of a doe! What bullet are you using? I couldn’t tell if it was a conical or a ball when you were loading, what’s the weight on it? Edit: well I should have watched the whole video before asking lol.
