The accounts in the comments section complaining about "girlboss" and no white male lead-- who are these people? What are their ages? What part of the world are they posting from? At least in the 2010s when left activists acted exactly the same way (just with completely different beliefs), you knew they were mostly college-aged millennials. The comments online that explode whenever there isn't a white male lead somewhere in entertainment, all seem to be men in their 50s, the same age group of the you tube channel owners they comment on

Tubi is probably my most used streaming service since it has boatloads of genre films from the 70's to the 90's and a decent helping of assorted arthouse faire. It's the home of the reject films where the interesting stuff is for better or ill.

Tubi is awesome, I actually watch that more than the ones I pay for... I miss those days when movies required an armed kickboxer to dispense justice. There are gems in their selection, but you do have to sift throw a lot of garbage, but that's the same situation for me with other platforms.

Fun fact, Tubi was able to go international thanks to a partnership with Blue Ant Entertainment. They wanted to harvest all of the content they could find to counter both Netflix and traditional broadcast television. Hence the original name: Tubi TV. Which, of course, has nothing to do with Star Wars for some reason. The original production name for SW being: Blue Harvest, of course.

I loved Furiosa. So much thought was put into building the world. George Miller has fully developed the culture, politics, economics, logistics, warfare tactics, etc. of the wasteland. It's so creative how the different warbands use salvaged junk in innovative ways, take advantage of the terrain, employ deception and subterfuge, and even make clever use of the dirt to create cover. Every franchise needs someone like George Miller, who thinks up of every aspect of the world to create a detailed believable universe.

The trailer was shit. Fury Road did juuust alright, and they waited too long to capitalize on even that. It's not much deeper than that, I'm weirded out by people seeming to be confused about Furiousa's mediocre box office
@Lovicide3 күн бұрын
Yeah, kinda glad this film is bombing at the box office. You take forever releasing new content, why the fuck would I stick around? Miller knows his time was 10 years ago when Fury Road came out. He squandered it. No amount of "trolls" or "sexists" is going to change that.

It was delayed by things out of his control and this movie is a masterpiece that appears to be getting second legs.

Funniest thing to me is how they complain about the female protagonist in the movie but it follows the same exact main character formula in every mad max movie as in the main character doesn’t say or do much and it focuses on other people, the main character just tags along in every scenario. Like seriously Dementus and the praetorian driver were more main characters than furiosa. She was just around them a lot when big things were happening

@maducrutz93843 күн бұрын
whys it mens fault when movies/games with female leads fail? shouldn't women be the main ones supporting it? shouldnt it be on em if it fails? I liked the movie and am a man but tf is this whole discussion online I keep seeing of "its mens fault X/Y is failing" just tiring to hear everytime something like this happens
@galactic063 күн бұрын

@thomasjohnson18853 күн бұрын
No one has said that ever unless in bad faith trying to get a rise out of rage clicks
@mpac36023 күн бұрын
I also think it’s relevant in this case because Mad Max is clearly a male dominated genre aimed at male audiences so if a movie featuring a female protagonist in a male franchise ends up tanking, people assume it’s because men are reluctant to see a film with a woman leading (not necessarily my take just, explaining why)
@BeGoodBe2 күн бұрын
Because certain men said this is a female boss movie before it came out and trashed it all through the internet when it clearly isn't. Go look at the down votes on the original trailer and comment sections of every review.
