For being a 2009, it looks to be in really good shape. Mine however, also about 15 years old, is beyond repair. I spread every day in the winters til 2 years ago, and it literally took a beating. Frozen manure had to be pounded off,almost daily, sometimes for weeks, before it would warm enough to thaw out. Large chunks beat their way out the back. Tailgate was rusted,bent, and patched over and over. Beater teeth replaced and welded a few base plates back on. Replaced the apron chain about 5 years ago. Now, with a reduced workload, I thought she would go a few more years easily, and she died on me. But it wasn't her fault. I suspect a blown gearbox oil seal at the beater that drained the oil. She served me well for what I put her through.

Yes it is, for its age and being one of the most abused pieces of farm equipment there is it is very nice for its age. Well taken care of and Meyers has a good design such as heavy rubber sides and galvanized tinwork so it doesn't rust out like your older and even new spreaders which are metal boxes. We paid less for this unit in great condition than others have for the same model in worse shape. We are usually able to get all of our manure spread well before the freezing temperatures set in but this year we are a bit behind. We have 1 day of spreading left and then it is getting cleaned up nice and taken to the care wash to get a soap and hot water clean out and parked for the winter.

God I have hauled a mountain of stuff with those old trucks. Ford F600 and Chevy C65 is what we had on the farm. C65 was a ten wheeler with a dead tandem. Had to be careful in the field so you didn't get stuck till you got some weight on it.

Do you find working corn stalks to be hard on all your equipment. Experienced more wear on our equipment.

Corn stalks are hard on everything, it feeds into a square baler nicer, but considerably more dust. Corn stalks are also pretty hard on tires.

I knew someone in Murray, Iowa that had a 656, I even drove it once, if I remember correctly..... He died I think 15 or 16 years ago....he had a hay field right along hwy 34....And another on the west end of town.....and he mowed, raked and baled other fields for other folks, as well.....

Glow plugs will start the engine even at mines 25 if the batteries are in good condition. IH fixed the 560 axle problem,it was a great tractor. The 1206s also had axle issues many broke in the fields working, allowing the duals to crunch into the cab sometimes in extremely rough conditions.

Now you can widen the frame and add the shanks back in , High 1st direct is plenty fast enough after adding about 3 to the frame work.

These will run forever. I have seen them as as small kid everywhere back in the day. 30 years later they were replaced with newer models but smaller farms still have them and use them daily. Even a snow plowing company we contract on yearly basis to remove snow from a parking lot and driveway is still using one from 80s.

Hello again. So when I tore into my brakes the left side was missing the friction plates pads but had a fresh piston. I bought some off of a different 706. The outer cover ended up being shallower. And one of the friction disks was much thinner than what was on the right side. Not worn. Just thinner. Not having much luck finding any info. Any suggestions? One set of the parts aren't from a 706 I believe. Similar but not similar enough.
@RuralMidwest5 ай бұрын
@@SplitReins Ok, so when I did mine I ordered an entirely new piston from NAPA (a&i products) that new piston came with an already bonded friction pad on it. I believe that is what you are referring to? throughout the entire brake assembly that can be differences that is why you have self adjusting screws on the brakes to take out that play. Hopefully that is helpful. I am not a mechanic though I am just an average guy trying to make it work also lol
