Im still very unsure of what automated mode even does, but my biggest gripe is that the omnipod knows what my blood glucose level is and I still gave to manually enter it every time I bolus.

I really appreciate how honest and detailed this video is. It shows the real challenges of managing type 1 diabetes on a sick day, which many people might not understand. Great work!

Hello, how are you? I found out your KZbin content recently. I also have T1D. I got diagnosed when i was 24years old in year of April 28,2021. Glad to know i'm not alone in this 😢😊 I already had 3 DKA and also once gave myself insulin for a snack and my sugar levels dropped low and fast. Thank u for the content and wishing you all the best

I got yelled at one time by a sub for having my phone out but i was checking my dexcom so i told her and she said “no.” LIKE WHAT?!!! then she asked if i was ok and i said yes and she said if you’re ok then put it up. How am i even supposed to know if i don’t check it? Anyways i know how you feel and it gets really annoying sometimes 😢

Ah that’s so kind! I miss creating for KZbin too!! I’ve actually been traveling around Asia for a few months. I kept my IG updated but it was too much to keep creating for KZbin too. But I head back to the US next week and I promise one video per week for the rest of the year 💛

I am so scared about going low in my sleep and never waking up again. I do have a cgm, but i’m scared it won’t read correctly or error out and not catch a low and i’ll die in my sleep. It’s terrifying 😢

It would be great to know how you put in the amounts into the system for the carbs that you are?

I statted Fiasp recently, but after watching your video, i looked up lyumjev. Turns out, lyumjev was approved by health Canada but was not released due to the companies decision to not sell it in Canada.

How do you deal with dawn phenomenon? The pump is letting me run high all night long and it doesn’t seem to be giving me extra insulin in the morning to compensate for the Dawn phenomenon. I woke up this morning at 180. Not terrible, but it just doesn’t seem aggressive enough.

I switched to shots on purpose for a while because the omnipod was in the way from working out and the needle was so flimy. Playing volleyball, it would fall off. I saw some athletes do that, I don't know which one but I once saw a professional t1d tennis player use shots instead. Is this a smart idea? I'm still using a CGM

Always helpful for those new to all of this! Listening to your experience is helpful to everyone else and well presented. Thank you.

Another way to increase the pump is to run it in manual with pre-set basal rates to match your new requirements. Once the pump is running where you want it, you can switch to auto mode and it will take over the new basal rate.

Thank you Meg for this video. My 13 year old daughter will start on iPod soon hopefully too and that click is little worrysome cos she even saw the needle on the Dexcom and that made her sad at the beginning but she is fine now after watching little 1-2 year olds getting it. I ll show her this video 😊

Hi Meg - I just found you recently, I love your videos! You are awesome, and so positive, and love all great information, and wisdom, life experiences you're sharing. My daughter was diagnosed 5 months ago, at 11, and you provide a lot of hope to me. So, thank you for doing this! I was wondering what your carb ratios are ? Thank you.

Glad you are learning to “work” your own system referencing your own needs. I haven’t had the success I was expecting with a new algorithm system. I am having to switch back to a more traditional pump system at my own expense. I hope to make my first video soon about my own journey with the “algorithm nightmare “ system. My drug plan makes the Omnipod system financially untenable for me. Thanks again for sharing your strategies!

Thank you for this. I'm so glad I found you! I love asian noodles, fresh rolls, kimbap, sushi, vermicelli etc. But was at a loss on how to count carbs and bolus for. So thank you for doing this❤

hi!! I just switched to the omnipod 5 earlier this week after having been on the tandem t:slim x2 for a couple of years, and medtronic since 2011. I struggled with pizza and pasta on the tandem pump and would love to maybe see how you calculate carbs for that.

Ive been a diabetic since i was 6 4 years! Normally the pod doesnt hurt it feels like someone pinched you for a millisecond and same with the sensor just the sensor has to change ever 10 days but the omnipod is every 3 days

My son used dexcom g6 and could not turn off alarms. He can put it on vibrate but that still disturbs his sleep. He was getting so many interruptions that we finally went to a cgm that doesn't talk to the pump. His pump is Tandem basal IQ and current cgm is Libre 3. He hates his Tandem pump but Medtronic was worse. I can't get him to try Omnipod. He thinks all pumps are great when they work but lots of times they don't. Currently on a 3 day wait (probably more days than that since it is FedEX) for a pump that is shipped "overnight". Tandem only ships 3 days of the week so you have to wait until you hit a ship date. UGH !!!!
