Is the bolt hole on bell housing block to big to take thread insert so don’t have to use a nut

I have a 2001 Pontiac grand am 3400 and I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for, I took the car for a test drive, had heat and then suddenly a blast of cold air, I get the car home and my dad mentions the heater hose might have popped, well he was close it’s the metal piece that connects to the hose and to the block. So my question is would anyone happen to know what that black metal tube piece is called and how hard is it gonna be to fix the issue?
@modeverything18 күн бұрын
Is it the pipe that goes to the lower intake manifold? Or the one that wraps around to the timing cover? Dorman makes both of them, just search 626114 and 626533.

Do you know if the lower intake from a 3.4SFI could be a direct replacement for the lower intake from a 3.1SFI?
@modeverything121 күн бұрын
A 2000+ 3100sfi will be a direct swap for a 3400 sfi. If you're asking about 3.4sfi (1993-95 camaro/firebird), swapping with a 3100 that will not work as they are different.

I swapped my valve and springs from the originals to the valve springs and rockers out of a 95 so that I could get the extra lift. Would I torque those down to the 3.1 original specs or the 3100 specs. And what would be a good cam I can’t seem to find any decent ones I would like a choppier one. The car is ran at higher rpm’s very very frequently as it’s a derby car motor

I think I would use the 3.1 specs if it still has the 3.1 studs. (Or go between the two specs) Schneider cams used to have some nice hydraulic grinds listed, but they changed their website around recently. I believe few people have had them make custom grinds in the past, so it might be best to give them a call or send an email! www.schneidercams.com/search.aspx?find=60+degree+v6

I'm guessing you have the 307 with the 7a heads and not a 350 with the 7A heads? If you have the 307 the only aluminum intake that would work is the factory A5 intake or sp2p Edelbrock. If you have the 350 you have a lot more options.

Hey, new car guy here just got a 2005 Pontiac grand am gt and was wondering what was some good starting places for this car, also where’d you get that muffler it sounds awesome🙏🏼
@modeverything1Ай бұрын
The muffler/resonator you can find on Amazon or Summit racing, or possibly local performance shops, if you have one nearby! I would start with making sure the maintenance is up to date first before modding (brakes, filters, fluids...) Then, I would probably say a performance muffler. After that it all depends on what you want to spend or how fast you want to go. I usually start with hptuners so that I can get rid of some of the torque management built into the pcm and firm up the transmission shifts so that it is not so lazy. I will try to get a short up soon of the completed exhaust setup!

3400 & 3500 both motors are JUNK. The 3800s were the ones you want best motor ever made. I had a 2004 monte carlo with the 3400 when I say that thing was JUNK it leaked oil and everything I had to keep adding oil at least 2 times a week and eventually the leak just got worst and the motor locked up on me running completely out of oil. Them motors were known for that.
@Danny-ow7hl26 күн бұрын
The 3.1, 3.4, and 3.5 are damn good Motors if you know how to take care of them. Oil leaks are common in all vehicles, especially after 100k. The common oil leaks areas for these engines are in the lower intake or pressure sensor. All else stays put together nicely.

I liked your videos on the 3.9 engine. I had a problem with my 3.9. The front 3 cylinders were running extremely rich. The front right piston had the valves hit it. One of the 3 codes was the runner control and it failed and would like your opinion if you think that might have caused the problem? Do you have a video on removing the engine from an Impala and replacing. I very much prefer the old V8 that were easy to remove and work on. My wife helped and she was in the Blazer engine compartment helping. Don't know if you have ever worked on airplane engines they are a lot easier and you always start with a clean engine. 3800s leak oil too, as do most engines that are 20+ years old. I would take a 3400 over a 3800 all day.
@52BuickBoi3 ай бұрын
@modeverything1 all depends on how you take care of them too and keep the oil changed. Most common reasons why oil leaks especially on 20+year old cars is the oil pressure sensor and rear main seal goes bad.

I live in Poland and I have a Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1 LE from 1991. I would like to ask you about two things. There is oil collecting in my intake manifold, and the spark plugs are a strange color, they are not black, but the upper electrodes of the spark plug are white. When the engine is hot, it shakes slightly. Ignition coils, cables, plugs are new. I also installed a new timing chain. Compression on the cylinders is equal and amounts to 190 psi. When the engine is very hot and has been left for about 20 to 30 minutes, it runs erratically after starting. After 10 seconds it calms down and everything is fine. If my stop is shorter, for example 10 minutes, then everything is fine. Could this be a problem with the piston rings? I'm asking because after removing the PCV valve from the valve cover, the engine smokes a lot from this hole. If the valve is installed, everything is fine. I also checked the vacuum pressure on a warm engine. My meter read -17 inHg. I will be very grateful for any help. Greetings from Poland. Adam.

I have another question about fuel injectors, because the original ones for the 3.1 LH0 engine have ...888 at the end of the serial number and I installed injectors from 2.8 engine, with the number ending ..536. Everyone writes that these injectors are interchangeable, but is it really so? The engine still shakes at idle, or maybe the fuel dose is too low?
