Thanks!

On your pulley alignment issue... you may need to run a taller water pump, which came on AC equipped vehicles, as the non-AC cars came with a short pump.

Are the P/S brackets different between a/c and non a/c? I did run the 350 in the car with the non a/c pulleys and this p/s pump set up 20 years ago... thinking the balancer may be different between the 260 and 350...?

@Mod Everything All brackets are interchangeable between 350 and 260 engines. The difference lies in A/C versus non A/C equipped. Both the 260 and 350 have the same spacing distance from engine block on the harmonic balancers. For example, I was able to move all the pulleys and brackets from a 350 engine to my 260 engine with no problem. Both were A/C equipped originally

Open up the ring gap or its gonna pop in short order. I lost pistons in both a 455 and a 403. Luckily both didnt hurt the bore, the 455 how has .037 both top and bottom and i'm running 15 psi with a 78mm turbo, no issues (other than violent traction loss)

When I build an engine for it I will open them up, but not too concerned with this engine. I have seen many of the 455 piston ash trays from my dad back in the late 80's from pushing the stock stuff too hard 😆

Great job your doing there! I just bought a jeep that came with that same engine (1975). I sure am missing something but why is nobody selling a head gasket for a 1975 260 v8 and there are also no gasket sets available for this engine. The sets start for the model years '77 and up. Can you please let me know what ı am missing. The engine needs to freshened up and ı would like to prepare all parts before diving into it. Any and all info is very very highly appreciated!

I'm guessing most of the 76 and older stuff is discontinued. I would think a 77+ head gasket would work but I'm not 100% sure on that. Probably best to ask on one of the Oldsmobile forums/pages to verify.
