We (my brother and me) use to mod these cars back in early 2000s. Sold CAI and bigger billet TBs for them. (2.2, 2.4, 2.8, 3.1, 3100 and 3400). It would make a big difference. My brother's '90 Z24 was a test mule for most of the J body mods. Also in the St Thomas area.

I know your brother from my J-body days back in the early 2000's! I had a few of them over the years lol The 62mm TB for the 2.8/3.1 was a great improvement over stock. I would like to find one for a 3.1 project that I'm working on with a friend of mine... any chance of getting some more made up? I have had some people asking about them after talking about them in my 3.1 mods video!

He might have a 62mm TB for a 2.8/3.1 at home. Very doubtful on getting any more made. Best I could do is bore out a stock TB and fit a larger plate inside. And I don't think it'll allow 62mm

Send me an email modeverything1@gmail.com and we can talk! I have a couple stock throttle bodys and some 56mm plates from 3400's. It will be better than stock at least!

I just got one of these, it's the Ram Air GT coupe with a 3400 v6. Extra clean no rust, these are some powerful cars indeed! I see yours ain't no punk either😂. Congrats on your victory!👍 You just proved to the world that the Grand Am is not to be under estimated and slept on.💪

Thanks! It will just get better from here, and I plan to keep it looking fairly stock too!

Pretty much what I expected it would do. My Alero went 16.1x in decent October air totally stock other than a short ram intake that mostly just sounded good.
@modeverything12 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are all over the place in stock trim, but most are around 15.8-16.2. I was hoping it would do better since my Alero went 15.5 with just a resonator delete and a little bit of a transmission tune on a cool September night. The GA has a better final drive gear and 2.25" exhaust.

Might have a question I have a 93 pontiac grand prix le 4 door 3.1l and last time went on the track my best time was18.3 and best reaction time for me was 0.15 what would be best mod for the transmission to shift a little better in second to third I've done cat, EGR, crusie control, and coolant bypass delete
@modeverything1 Жыл бұрын
Depending on what transmission you have you would most likely need a shift kit or internal transmission mods to make it shift faster. I used to shift my 92 Lumina manually so that I could rev it a little higher with the 3500.

@@modeverything1 the only I know about transmission is that it's a 4 speed

I don't know too much about the 4t40 transmissions. The 3800 sc/3.4 DOHC guys of that era might have some tricks for them

Very interested in seeing the incremental improvements on this car, What are your plans for it?
@modeverything12 жыл бұрын
I'm trying hard not to go turbo right away lol I'm thinking some exhaust mods might be next or a larger throttle body!

@@modeverything1 Would love to see what some simple NA mods can do for improvement. i might have to start modding the wifes 2005 lol.

I think that grand Am might be a little quicker than that Alero that's just what I think

@@modeverything1 I have a good low mileage 3500 from a g6 ND a good 700r4 I wanna swap into a 83 ranger and I can't find anything on making the harness stand alone or what wires to use to be a le to start it etc and I figured since you did the 3400 in the 1500 I would ask you
@modeverything12 жыл бұрын
You would be best to look into a microsquirt/megasquirt. The lx9 pcm is not able to be recalibrated by hptuners or any others that I know of. If you find any one that can recalibrate it you will need them to disable the security settings to get it to start. You could use a 3400 pcm and harness but you will need to make an external 7x crank trigger because the 3500 crank reluctor is different. Check out 60degreev6.com forums, lots of good information on swapping these engines on there! Hope this helps you out!
