How the hell do you get the camera down there with the perfect angles and still get the fish to bite… That is freaking nuts dude!!!

2:46:40 the evidence here is when people are caught cheat it isn’t the folk in the top 10 it’s the folk down in the 30s they literally cheat just to try and cut a check the hell with winning that’s how down bad the sport and sponsorship is

Professional fishing, and alot of fishing in general is boring as hell to watch. It is on the downhill slide. Way too many tournaments and the fisheries are nor well taken care of, especially here in Florida where I live, I was out the other day and the spray boats are out 5 days a week. I have fished tournaments since 1988 including BASS and FLW and it is not fun anymore. I have lost alot of my interest in fishing in general which is a shame. It is a sport I used to love, but not anymore. You need loads of money to play professionely. It is a money pit and you can go bankrupt quickly.

Come on quit beating around the bush FFS has changed the game so much from the top to the bottom!! Your argument about catching a fish on FFS being legitimate In my opinion which doesn’t matter much but it’s not legitimate period!!

A few weeks back, I saw one of the bad boys throwing a fish across the boat to the live well. The fish bounced off the door and down into the well. This guy has a really big You tube following. Being a bad boy and acting like that are two difference things. People follow that stuff and actually cheer for it. It is disheartening. This is not just limited to the fishing community.

Rob I love you. You’re wrong on the competitiveness of these new guys. I’m 31, love the old school bass fishin. I’m in Florida and fish out of a jon boat. Have won derby’s on Kissimmee, winter haven, all with loaded boats. Young guys have no responsibility and have time to waste. This isn’t 1999. The young guys are obviously better because they fish nonstop. Who shoots massive bucks sitting in the same 2 stands all year??? It’s just not how it works. Gotta evolve. Now the grey area stuff….all with ya buddy. It’s so dumb

Rob mentioned the religious southern thing imagine being from NY in 1991! Ray Scott called me a Yankee on stage once. As far as the respect thing I think the draw format bred respect. You might have to fish with the guy you just did wrong the next tournament and you might need that angler to do you right. The draw was supposed to be random but known jerks seemed to be paired at a high rate like there were two lists for pairings.

Fishing is just like U.S. politics. Just ordered Rob’s book. I tried to break into the professional ranks back in late 80’s/early 90’s. Kinda glad I failed. At this point in life I’m glad I kept my corporate job and retired with a pension

Awesome, fun & entertaining show. TnZ are great in whatever they’d do together! My hope is Bassmaster will use the TnZ podcast to make Bassmaster & their tournaments much more transparent. TnZ can talk/discuss about any rules broken & the penalties given & why. Z’s opinion about no entry payments & elites will now be fishing to win instead of trying “just for a check” great perspective. Look forward to TnZ’s new podcast & always enjoy your show & guests.

I'm ashamed for allowing live scope to enter the Bassmaster classic. Though I have no say in the matter. That's not how we play the game at the highest level.
@fishinninja1821 сағат бұрын
Catching the glide bait fish without seeing it on scope is more rewarding, a larger surprise and a larger challenge overcome.

Rob Newell interview was awesome! When I grew up there was a major fishing Etiquette you would learn from your grandfather and it wasn’t broken! I’m talking about non tournament fishing and it carried on into the tournament angling . FFS has dominated the discussion so long that what Rob brought up about the modern angler sharing everything they are doing has not been talked about enough! I hate FFS , but the worst thing in tournament angling is the team aspect that the young anglers have brought from high school and college. I want to watch angler vs angler ! Dog eat Dog competitive fire ! But the groups teaming up now from college and especially the Johnson brothers ruins the nostalgia and competitiveness for the viewer ! FFS makes it worse because now you can see what you are telling your buddy . Banning FFS would be the first step , then no more sharing info ! The sport would recover quickly and so would the tackle industry! It’s ok to have bad boys ! But just individual bad boys !!!

Great interview. Love Rob's perspective. As a recreational angler who enjoys watching tournament fishing (live stream) I appreciate the education. (I'm an old geezer. I helped a local radio station cover the original Megabucks tournaments on the Harris Chain. Larry Nixon became my first "hero" of bass fishing, and I was 30+ years old at the time.)
