What an absolute awesome Real show. If only all people in this clapped up world could be this honest and caring. Davy Hite hit the nail on the head. Mercer , Zona, and Davy himself are great people. My opinion from a chair infront of a TV. Keep up your integrity.

I actually won the Media Tournament the year Van Dam won his New Orleans Classic. I was in the boat with Scott Rook that practice day. Earned a $500 check. And I thought it was crazy, but Scott was as excited as I was when I hooked that 4 1/2-pounder. Earlier I asked if it bothered him that I was fishing, and he said "Have you ever won Classic money? I haven't either." After I caught that bass, he grabbed my lure and a pair of snips - and clipped my hook. "Now they'll have to come and get you," he said. lol

Other sports, even at the highest levels, are not sports based on having millions of potential participants(anglers), being limited to 100 total competitors, and only having half of that already tiny number(50), being able to make a paycheck at that competition. Golfers get paid to show up and compete. Fighters get paid for stepping in the ring. Tennis players get paid for showing up and competing. Football, basketball, baseball, all of those competition based sports are paying you to show up and compete, not just because you won or finished in the top half in that event. Those sports also have hundreds of top level competitors, with hundreds to even thousands of just average competitors, who get paid to show up and compete. Fishing can’t figure that out, because fishing tournaments can’t figure out how to make a product that is marketable and digestible in a 3 hour maximum length televised broadcast competitive sports format. Or how to get more people to tune into the televised first 3 hours of an 8 hour event, when they know that they really only want to see how it all goes down in the final minutes of the competition, as it happens LIVE. Fishing competitions just can’t seem to figure that out to save their life. More people would be interested without a weigh in stage, and having your weights tracked throughout the day, so they can see it all play out in real time. You have to make the format something that helps you create the story. It sucks to watch when you have to also watch someone try to make up the story of an 8 hour day, like 4-5 hours before it’s even over. It just takes all the chance of having that iconic kind of moment that is synonymous with sporting competitions of all kinds, but not fishing. The fishing industry is just stuck in this “we are what we are” mindset, that they can’t get out of their own way. They just keep trying to piss head first into the wind, instead of with it.
@factsoffishing2 ай бұрын
I have said for years, fishing tournaments are too long. I would love to see the day drastically shortened. Everything gets more exciting when it’s faster.

Sharing information rule is a stupid rule to begin with, someone can tell you what they did and where, you can go out there the next day and find a ghost town. It means absolutely nothing. The only rule on information should be “not allowed to share information in the moment, by calling/texting other anglers during the fishing hours of tournament”. That’s it.
@factsoffishing2 ай бұрын
👍
@johnmango60562 ай бұрын
I’m glad that info rule got changed but the fact that it was implemented in the first place is wildly concerning. Would love to know who actually came up with that idea. Hands-down one of the most out of touch things I’ve ever seen in professional fishing.

But yall do have to agree that the 5 idiots deciding these rules dont know nothing about bass fishing or that rule decision wouldnt have been wrong an they wouldve gotten the ffs rule closer to being right w half the yr w it half wout it! They allowed it so nothing changed and its already proven scheduling doesnt help.

THE ROOKIES….. this was a pathetic display of toeing the line by you Dave and Davey to an extent. You say the success of the rookies wasn’t because a unit! I don’t believe that you believe what you said. FFS took over in 2023. It was a player before but in 23 it dominated. The rookies that survived the opens in 23 had to be prolific with ffs. When they got to the elites they were better scopers than most of the field. They had to be to survive the opens. The pros already in the elites didn’t have to go all in with ffs if they choose not to which put them behind. I agree they’re all accomplished anglers but yes the reason they dominated was 100% the unit
@factsoffishingАй бұрын
The last thing we did was toe the line. But then again our options are formed by what we actually see not just the popular narrative on social media. Some rookies use FFS a lot but not all of them & very few of them will disappear without it. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
