This is absolutely true - the price you pay if you convert from Islam is like leaving your entire identity, communities etc. Your friends and community just simply won't accept it and say you're committing the worst sin, so they stay away from you. I couldn't tell people I converted personally. My mom was fine with it because shes not a typical Muslim and accepts all religion, as well as my father. I'm so lucky in that regard, but a lot of people aren't so lucky. Frankly, it's none of anyone's business of your belief systems. I know a girl I used to be close with and her whole family would disown her if she left Islam. She even fell in love with someone Asian who was going to convert to Islam and her family talked so badly about him (he was already suicidal), and he was never accepted. She ended up dumping him saying she fell out of love and married someone really quickly after a few weeks. But I can tell she hasn't been happy since. I just think she did that to be accepted by her family and community - going outside of that would change so much for her. But because I'm highly intuitive I can see she's not truly happy, she was actually so much happier with her ex. Because in a way, she's doing what she is supposed to do - and doing what you're supposed to never gives you a fulfilled marriage. We see that time and time again with marriages that were more out of obligation. I truly think she pretended to love her now husband, who is truly not a match for her - I saw that from day 1. But I said nothing because everyone needs to follow their own path and make their own mistakes in life. I married outside of my race and a lot of Arabs changed their tune around me - it's really sad how abusive and toxic these cultures are - I can't speak for ALL people, but there are a ton that are so embedded in this identity and they are so unaccepting of other ways of thinking. To be fair, I've encountered Christians also like this but in Islam it's really to a whole other level.
