Damn, this actually looks really good. Interesting how they went with a soulslike combat, there's definitely some hints of a metroidvania here though. At least by the looks of it ^^

Yes indeed, the branching map layout is definitely metroidvania-esque, however I didn't think that's a large enough of a component to focus on. For me, playing it reminded me of Prince of Persia, because that's my reference point hence why that's what I use in the script as well. I think a more console-focused human would've went with the metroidvania comparison but that would be more of a "you" thing :)

nevermanaged to "finish it" i have the portal right into what i think its the final boss but cant really do things without getting there with the sword if i not remember wrong of that crowy creature? a katana? but i had never found an "easy" way or route to get there so i had just give up, great game tho, if that kind of games are your jam you will love dark devotion.

How is it different from Blasphemous?

I liked it more than Blasphemous :)) Dark Devotion leans more into the RPG domain and Blasphemous is much more into the Metroidvania domain. I found Blasphemus to be overly-challenging, for me at least.

I bought this game by accident and liked a lot. It is not a masterpiece but a decent title with unique components.
