Well, hate to be the bearer of 'bad news', but preferably, stop giving him milk all together. Cats are strict carnivores and don't get any nutritional value from milk. What you can do, if it proves difficult to stop, is watch this short I made on how to stop giving milk: kzbin.infoWsBIBuhQsp8?feature=share If this doesn't work, or you don't want to stop giving him milk, try any lactose free milk. But becareful with the added calories that won't give him any nutrional benefit. Especially after castration, you need to be very carefull with the calories you provide in his nutrition.

I totally get what you mean! I don't understand the whole added veggies either, makes no sense at all and it really get's me worked up. They can't really digest it and get nutrients out of anything but meat (or fish, but also not logical cause they wouldn't go and catch fish to eat in the wild). So yeah, I really wish they'd stop putting all of that useless ingredients in cat food. BUT it would make it WAY more expensive if all of the kibble was meat-only. So it's a problem of demand and supply economy 🙀

I wouldn't recommend raw meat, because it can bring a lot of diseases with it. Cats are strictly carnivores, so meat only is good, BUT if you're only gonna give meat and not cat food, your cat is gonna get deficient in a few essential vitamins, amino-acids and nutrients that are very well balanced and included in a good quality cat food.

Good question! Well, they would hunt, kill and eat a whole mouse (or other critter) for example. But that also means all the possible diseases, intestinal parasites and/or poison (if there was rat poison ingested by the mouse). So a safe and natural alternative isn't really an option. Even if you where to give your cat this diet, it could choke on the bone, it will puke up a lot of hairballs, you'd have to give deworming ('unnatural' remedies for it to really be effective) and so on. So a LOT less healthy for your cat than just a good quality and well balanced commercial kibble.

That can be annoying, but usually there's a reason why your kitten does this and it's easy to solve this problem. I'll first need some more information. How many cats do you have in total? How many litter boxes do you have? What kind of litter grind do you use and did you switch it recently?

@CatVetNele Hi, thank you first foremost for replying and helping, much 💖 One cat started with wood pellets and now changed to a product called Catsan. Purchased tray with a lid. And now, two open trays to try out. Was pooing in lid tray with wood pellets but weeing outside. Read online about lid trays, sometimes not suitable. Position of tray/near a window to try a different cat litter. Have two litter trays near each other. One open tray and one cloaed try to monitor any preferences. Read about kitten may prefer to poo and pee in seperate trays, etc I have tried several things so any further help or advice be appreciated, be me and kitten 😸

So, if I understand it correctly, you have only 1 cat? Alway keep in mind that cats still have the same DNA as their wild ancestors, so they still have the very same instincts. So you always need to think of, what would they do or what would they need in nature? Cats ALWAYS prefer to do the pee and poo in seperate trays, BUT they don't see them as seperate trays if you put them right next to each other. Then they see it as 1 tray. Also, keep the litter grind as natural as possible. Wild cats do this is fine sand, so find a litter grind that is as fine as possible, that clumbs and doesn't make a lot of dust. BUT also, without any kind of smell of perfume added. Carefull, 'babypowder' is also an added smell!

Hey Terry, that's because that's a very narrow and specific problem and not the topic of this video. Perhaps I can help with some input/suggestions, but keep in mind that I can't fully help with actual medical advice because I can't examine the cat you're talking about. Tell me, what kind of cat are we talking about? Male or female? neutered/spayed or not? How long have you had the cat? Any other pets in the house? Does the cat (and/or other pets) go outside? Was this a problem since the beginning? How long has the cat not eaten anything? (= definition of anorexic in veterinary medicin). Is it perhaps eating at night when no one is awake? Did something recently change in its environment if this behavior is a recent fact. You see, a lot of things to consider, even before doing a medical examin. Because it has to be ruled out first that the cat doesn't have an illness, before you can start thinking about a behavioral problem due to bein shy.

Hey Goodperson4225, the vomiting should stop on its own if you stop giving milk. If you have trouble making your cat only drink water instead of milk, watch this: kzbin.infoWsBIBuhQsp8?feature=share If the vomiting doesn't stop, you need to get your cat to the vet for an injection against vomiting. Here in belgium, we have a medication that works on the vomiting centre in the brain to stop the vomiting for a day or two. Usually that's enough time for the stomach to recover from being overstimulated by vomiting a lot. Let me know if that fully answers your question, if not, don't be afraid to ask follow-up questions 😸

I'm so glad it was helpfull! Carefull for the reason why you want to cut a cat's nails though. If it's to make your cat scratch the furniture less, you're just gonna stimulate it to scratch more. You need different strategies for that behavior to lessen or stop. If it's because the nails are getting so long that they're gonna grow in the cushions of the paw, or your cat is hurting itself by getting stuck on everything, or is hurting you or too many of your clothes are getting torn up because of it,.... then go for it! I'm sorry to tell you, but nowadays, 14- - 16 years is not very old for a cat. Vets only start calling a cat 'geriatric' around 14 - 15 years, everything before (from 7 - 14) is considered a 'senior' cat. Look, my advice is to help cats live a long and healthy live when I talk about medical and food related topics. When I talk about cat behavior, my goals is to help them live the happiest live possible by helping cat owners understand them better.

Hey there, ok let's see if I understand you correctly. Your kittens of 3 months old are getting sick after drinking milk? I don't really understand why your vet gives you the advice to give milk. 3 month old kittens don't need milk anymore. Most kittens stop drinking milk from their mother around 8-9 weeks old. So the reaction your kittens are having is because they are lactose intolerant, just like ALL kittens that have stopped drinking milk form the mother cat. Just give them water and kibbles for kittens. If the kibbles are to hard for them at first, you can always let them soak a bit in water before giving it to them. Just make sure you get them a good quality, cats are strict carnivores, so check the label for a very high % of meat. Let me know how that goes 😉

I'm glad your kittens feel better! It looks like I really need to make a video about what food to give cats. Ok, very generally speaking, any commercial dry food that is made for cats that has a high percentage of meat in it, is overall ok. Most supermarket cat food is like, if we would eat fast food every day. It will feed your cats and keep them alive, but it's not very healthy. A nice middle ground is food from the pet specialty store. And the best quality of cat food, you get from the vet. The vet also looks at what food is best for you cat's age and medical status. Wet food is also possible, same thing with the quality, but even more so. Keep away from supermarket canned food. Also, wet food is not 'bad' in and of itself, but cats do get bad teeth from it more quickly. So it's best to mix that in with dry food if you want to give wet food. About human food... just anything that is only meat, no sauce, no spives added. But if youonly give human food, they will get deficiencies of certain vital mierals and vitamines.

😅 I sent a lot of them back, because they were very gadjet-y instead of practical. Just proves how these developers aim to make you buy something 'extra special' that you don't really need.

Ok, I can see that. The only difference is, you know better and are responsible for your cat's health and wellbeing. Your cat doesn't know, it's not like you can explain it to them in a way they can understand 😅

Please don't ever do this! You can poison your cat with it. It has a very nasty taste for your cat, you will stress it out tremendously. Stress is also one of the things that makes this problem re-occur. You'll also never get to the cause of the problem and your cat might get kidney problems if it doesn't get helped in the right way. This is NOT something to do a home remedy for.

Hey! You can always mix the dry food in with the wet food to add some moisture, plus is better for a cat's dental health too, the crunch it provides. A drinking fountain (if you don't have it already) can tempt him to drink more too. How old is he and is he neutered or not?

@@CatVetNele I think he's about 12yo but not sure. I did mix it for a little while but either friskies changed their formula or not he started leaving uneaten portions so I just went to wet food and put out dry food at night which is his favorite time to eat. And he loves his freshly mixed dry food with EVOO. Definitely neutered.

@@CatVetNele I change his water bowl everyday. But I have some issues with new additions, 2 kittens that were found by others, and I took them in. Must take older cat to vet for checkup, he is not doing well. So concerned about him.

Ooooh, that might be it! Any change in your cat's home will give it a lot of stress. Make sure he gets a senior blood analysis, so you know for sure his kidneys, thyroid and bloedsugars (for possible diabetes) are all ok. Let me know how it goes and what the results were. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

@@CatVetNele : I just got back from the vet; he palpated his abdomen and his bladder area and said they both were supple; such a relief! Thank you Lord. What he did find was inflammation of the gums in the jaw teeth. So, no bloid tests at this time unless a dental cleaning is called for if there is no improvement after the antibiotic shot and steroid inj to bring down swelling. We'll see.

Hi Shati, so glad you reached out! Gosh, sound like you're really in a struggle here. That's difficult for even the most experience cat care takers. BUT I do have an idea for you. Step 1: You should definitly NOT try to do this alone. So make sure you have a partner in 'crime' for this and make it very clear between you two who does what. I will try to make a shorts video on the safest technique to apply the dropt to ANY cat soon (but can't make any promises on when). Step 2: Turn your cat into a cat burrito (again will try to make a video in the future), but basically, you lay a large and tick towel or blanket on the table. Put the cat with the head towards the edge. Make sure it's paws remain IN the blanket. and wrap it firmly, but gently and calmly, around the cat. Starting right under the chin, front paws inside (best seated not standing), wrap it al the way around and tuck in on other side, while bringing other side to starting side (if that makes sense 😅). While you do this, most of the time, the hind legs are inside too. Otherwise, make sure before you stop, that they are inside too. Step 3: on person holds the cat burrito firmly with both hands, and the other tilts the head upward and applies the eye drops. If anything is confusion about how I (tried) to explain this, let me know. This is much easier when I can show it to you as well. Sometimes (but ask your vet), if it's really not working. You can give something to calm your cat daily for as long as you have to give the drops. It's called Gabapentine over here in Belgium. It's a powder in a capsule, or in some countries like the UK they have a liquid form of it as well. You can mix the powder with some food 2 hours before you try to apply the eye drops.
